Any chance I get to put my cats in a video I'm going to take. So when I get to make a tutorial for Lionwake, a game all about mystical lion guardians protecting the village from marauding beasts, you know they're going to find their way in! www.youtube.com/watch?v=JbxX...

Literally saw a YouTube comment today on one of my videos that was basically this guy. Was tempted to just reply “I am very smart.”

Well dang, that’s good to hear!

RTFM (Shea Parker) @rtfmshow.bsky.social · 15/09/2026

Oh yeah, that’s right. Well in Maya the minions are much more active. They attack you, but if you defeat them you can respawn them on your side and use them against your opponents.

RTFM (Shea Parker) @rtfmshow.bsky.social · 15/09/2026

I’ve only played GoA2 once, and I really liked it! If I remember correctly there were no minions in that game, which is kind of a staple for MOBAs in my opinion. I also felt there was a little more variety of actions in Maya because your cards determine what you do and those change each round.

Creating a board game MOBA isn't easy, but Trials of Maya has absolutely done it! With wild artwork, intuitive gameplay, and a cardplay system that is easy to pick up but provides a TON of strategic depth, this is one to watch. And you can learn how to play here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sfhj...

110

RTFM (Shea Parker) @rtfmshow.bsky.social · 12/09/2026

Interesting! Every time I look it up, people are always saying you gotta jump through a bunch of hoops and it’s more trouble than it’s worth. Did you have to reinstall anything or were you able to just plug it in and have it boot up normally?

110

RTFM (Shea Parker) @rtfmshow.bsky.social · 12/09/2026

From what I’ve learned, switching out a motherboard means you need to reinstall your os because of reasons. And even if you do, there’s a lot of ways that can go wrong if you aren’t just starting fresh.

110

RTFM (Shea Parker) @rtfmshow.bsky.social · 12/09/2026

True, but a new computer means I need to get windows 11, which…ugh

110

RTFM (Shea Parker) @rtfmshow.bsky.social · 12/09/2026

Having upgraded my gpu a couple times on my 10 year old compy, I’ve come to face the unfortunate truth that what’s actually holding it back now is the cpu. And I’ll need a new motherboard to upgrade that, which is basically a new computer at that point 🫤

There are a lot of board games out there that try to capture what Civilization brings to the table, but it is RARE to find a game that starts you off feeling like turn one of a new Civ campaign more than Stonesaga! And I've got a new tutorial for it that's up now! www.youtube.com/watch?v=PZWU...

Okay I'm gonna say it: it's really weird for large for-profit conventions to have "volunteer" staff. Fan-run cons do that because they're non-profits and no one is getting meaningfully paid. Professional cons are businesses and businesses need to pay for labor.

Writers should internalize Lao Tzu's lesson about how the emptiness at the center of a wheel is what makes it useful, and how a pot is valuable because of where the clay *isn't*. Corporate geek culture has warped us into thinking that negative spaces are flaws that need to be fixed.
