Rachel @rsteve388.bsky.social · 51m#GISChat Question for all of y'all. Have you turned on the Metadata editor for your Orgs ArcGIS Online and if so is having metadata as part of any data you upload into ArcGIS Online mandatory? If not, why not? Second Question, Why are we afraid of standards? 010
Rachel @rsteve388.bsky.social · 06/10/2026A notecard makes sense, I am very fortunate to live in a state with Mail in Voting so I can do everything in the comfort of my home and just have my ballot my computer my voting guide right there. 110
Rachel @rsteve388.bsky.social · 06/10/2026#Voting What is your voting guide of choice? Do you have one you look forward to? A voting guide from your local news source or one from an organization you follow? Also for those of you who don't have mail in voting, can you bring in a voting guide into the ballot box with you? 110
Rachel @rsteve388.bsky.social · 05/10/2026 #GISChat So, for a while now, I have been concerned about our electrical grid. This Friday Ohio University is hosting a 1 hour seminar on Energy Insecurity and Local Cities, and providing a road map for local action and what that looks like. Here is the link: cura.osu.edu/events/energ...cura.osu.eduEnergy Insecurity and Cities: Revealing A Roadmap for Local ActionEvery month, millions of Americans face an impossible choice: turn the thermostat up/down (heat) or put food on the table (eat). Cities are increasingly on the front lines of the energy affordability ... 010

Rachel @rsteve388.bsky.social · 02/10/2026This seems super important to read given everything that has happened to women in the last decade not to mention the Epstein Files and the Cornell 7. 110
Rachel @rsteve388.bsky.social · 02/10/2026I'd love to read this but i am struggling to find a free copy, if you know of where to find a free PDF I'd love to see it. 310

Rachel @rsteve388.bsky.social · 29/09/2026Work PSA: Not including a due date for your project is RUDE. Yes, I can make my own due date and that's fine but it would really help me to prioritize my various projects if the people requesting the product gave me a due date!! Go argue with your momma. 000
Rachel @rsteve388.bsky.social · 27/09/2026#CreativeCarto Okay so I reviewed the Connecting Aurora Experience builder and skimmed the master plan PDF. My next steps will be: 1 Print out the Master Plan and to review it thoroughly, make notes and annotations. 2 Ask about the Experience Builder and what continuation support looks like. 011
Rachel @rsteve388.bsky.social · 27/09/2026#CreativeCarto I deeply appreciate the ultra washable markers that were used in the making of this photo. I respect it. 030
Rachel @rsteve388.bsky.social · 27/09/2026#CreativeCarto I am hoping to work on an already establish project for my current employer so I can work within my job on a project we have to support anyway. I think today's task will be reviewing all of the documentation that the contractor put together. 110
Rachel @rsteve388.bsky.social · 27/09/2026#CreativeCarto Yeah, we will see how it goes, it is a 7 week program! pretty quick turn around time. 110
Rachel @rsteve388.bsky.social · 27/09/2026#CreativeCarto So I recently got accepted into a program in Colorado called The Civic Academy it's run by the Denver Regional Council of Governments(DRCOG) They require an individual action plan, so I am going to work this afternoon on that project by looking at multimodal transportation. 261
Rachel @rsteve388.bsky.social · 27/09/2026#CreativeCarto Hello from Denver, CO Excited to be participating! what are y'all working on? 150
Rachel @rsteve388.bsky.social · 25/09/2026I agree with you that women aren't angry enough and I am really struggling with the individualism of the responses to this entire situation. I am hearing things like I hope she gets justice. This whole situation needs to be looked at through a lens of collective anger and response. 120
Rachel @rsteve388.bsky.social · 23/09/2026Enshittification was very insightful, highly recommend. 010
Rachel @rsteve388.bsky.social · 22/09/2026#GISChat I am having a moment. I went to the Creative Carto website to check it out, look at the gallery. Lo and Behold a map I made in 2016? 2017. Is included on the website. I am truly humbled. My name is included on a website with the names of cartographers I consider to be some of the best. 0160
Rachel @rsteve388.bsky.social · 22/09/2026Bad Ass, Well done! The healing journey is long but I am glad to hear you are pushing through and succeeding! Well Done! 120

Rachel @rsteve388.bsky.social · 18/09/2026A while back, I posted about taking vision therapy, today I completed 30 sessions of vision therapy sessions! we have made significant progress. On to Occupational Driving Therapy... eventually. ( mumbles something about paying off 4K dollars from Vision Therapy.) 020

Rachel @rsteve388.bsky.social · 12/09/2026No I keep meaning to. I have read the Reverse Centaur's guide to Life after AI by Cory Doctorow ( it was short.) But i will make that a priority to read in October. 010
Rachel @rsteve388.bsky.social · 11/09/2026Question Regarding AI, if AI is the way the future is going a question I have been thinking about is: Does everyone need access to AI? I think specific careers or fields need AI but I wonder if everyone else needs AI or even needs the same type of AI? #ArtificalIntelligence #AI 101
Rachel @rsteve388.bsky.social · 03/09/2026#GISChat I graduated with my GIS Masters in 2018, I learned on ArcMap of course I don't trust ArcGIS Pro Autosave. Manual save baby... all the time. 150
Rachel @rsteve388.bsky.social · 03/09/2026#GISChat In ArcGIS Online, I'd like to be able to Pin my projects in my content and in my organization, so that they are at the top of my screen. with a dropdown so I can see all the dependencies related to that product. 030
Rachel @rsteve388.bsky.social · 01/09/2026#GISChat Hot Take: Static maps are amazing and fantastic and are still beneficial. Interactive web maps are... okay. 0140
Rachel @rsteve388.bsky.social · 31/08/2026#GISChat I swear I must have made like 100 different decisions regarding making these snow plow maps for the city of Aurora. Really, I have only really made 1 map so far. 020
Rachel @rsteve388.bsky.social · 27/08/2026This? Again... its the same shift on a different day with these people.... good lord. Do they really have nothing better to do? (Said in the most NY Jewish accent I can muster) 100
Rachel @rsteve388.bsky.social · 26/08/2026#GISChat Then taking the all the maps and compiling them in Adobe illustrator? Any other ideas for how to work with insets when creating map series? 000
Rachel @rsteve388.bsky.social · 26/08/2026#GISChat One possible solution I have thought through is that maybe I'll have two projects. One for the main portion of the map and then a second one for the insets. (I am looking at 15 maps for the main map and then some of those maps have 2 or three insets per page in the map series.) 2/x 100
Rachel @rsteve388.bsky.social · 26/08/2026#GISChat I am creating a series of snowplow maps for the city of Aurora CO. I am really struggling with creating insets in the map series as it relates to the page in question? 1/x 100
Rachel @rsteve388.bsky.social · 24/08/2026"we don't have rules here bro" STOP I can't breathe!!! 1152
Rachel @rsteve388.bsky.social · 24/08/2026So, like just a temp project file? Also doesn't ArcGIS Pro have automatic saving built in? would you turn that off completely? 000
Rachel @rsteve388.bsky.social · 21/08/2026#GISChat The goal of the Final Development map is to have a space where i do all the fine tuning, the cartography and any page queries for layout design. This map gives me an idea of what the final product will look like and how to display it. End 010
Rachel @rsteve388.bsky.social · 21/08/2026#GISChat The goal of the scrap map is to do all of the initial data cleaning, processing and organizing of the datasets for the map. I use this map space to make mistakes, play with different techniques etc. Mistakes are welcome here. Essentially, a sandbox. 3/x 200
Rachel @rsteve388.bsky.social · 21/08/2026#GISChat In creating these maps today and learning about page queries, I decided that because this map project is so large that I need a better process for handling all of this data. My new process involves creating what I am calling a Scrap Map and a Final Development Map. 2/x 100
Rachel @rsteve388.bsky.social · 21/08/2026#GISChat So, I am working on a static map project for a team within my department. It requires me to create 17 maps of various routes for the folks who drive snow plows, essentially these maps will them them navigate and prioritize the routes that they should focus on. 1/x 110
