Roman Anthony says he hurt his hand fouling off a pitch during his first at bat. He knew then something was wrong but took a second at bat anyway just to make sure. Once he checked his swing again in that at bat he knew it was time to get it looked at.

So often—too often, imo—we've been told to "tip your cap" to an otherwise middling pitcher. But that isn't Schlittler, who was, by any measure, outstanding last night, great all season long.

We have seen guys before who just can't stay healthy. Can really be tough to witness. Too soon to know if that's him, but it's certainly a reasonable concern, imo. Still, some fans clamour to "lock up" young players sooner rather than later, trapping resources where they may never be fruitful.

Happy to discuss all that in the off-season. For my part I've been clear for some time that this #RedSox front office seems to undervalue offense to their own peril. I have quote after quote, each promising to improve Sox offense, but they just don't deliver.

For me, this has been a point of extreme frustation all season long. #RedSox front office had a stated goal to improve offense after last year, but couldn't get it done. Contreras bailed them out, a bit with a career year. But, by definition, those don't happen every year.
