Not (necessarily) climate change: it’s gonna be 80°+ in Denver this weekend. Climate change: This was Denver’s 4th-hottest September on record after our 4th-hottest August after our 2nd-hottest July after our hottest March after our 3rd-hottest February after our 2nd-hottest December. #COwx

I swear being a meteorologist in Denver is like telling the kids Santa's sleigh broke down 2 cities over every two weeks until the end of time

i worry that men think being A Good Guy is dramatically and heroically intervening on behalf of an endangered woman and then being publicly rewarded on a grand scale when actually being A Good Guy is just usually saying, “hey man that’s not funny” or “wow that’s fucked up” and there is no reward

Whether you’re on the road or camping, will you be ready for sudden flash flooding? Make sure to enable Wireless Emergency Alerts on your phone. If flooding occurs while you’re outdoors, immediately get to higher ground, and NEVER enter flood waters in a vehicle or on foot. weather.gov/safety/flood
Flash flooding can escalate quickly. Heavy rain can lead to sudden flash floods, whether you're on the road or at a campground. Will you be ready? Set up a way to get weather warnings on your phone. When alerted to a flash flood, get to higher ground immediately. Never enter flood waters in a vehicle or on foot.

☁️ Mostly cloudy with a 40% chance for showers today, rain will be light for most. A bit cooler, highs likely stuck in the upper 60s. 🌧️ A near-washout tomorrow with a flood risk, especially for the south metro area, and even cooler with highs in the mid-60s. #COwx

Red-shaded zones on the maps below will have the highest flood risk tomorrow and Wednesday. For the Denver area: south metro area will have the highest flood risk, 2-3"+ possible. Low will probably need to nudge north for Denver proper to be in the main flood risk. #COwx

While still a tough forecast, a more significant Denver rain (2"+) Tue-Thu seems more likely than not now. Douglas County/Divide prob will see most. Sharp gradient north. 2-5"+ of rain for SE Colorado. Latest Euro shown below, roughly in line with my current thinking. #COwx

Burn scars from wildfires increase the risk of debris flows, which can destroy homes in their paths. Be aware of your surroundings and stay Weather-Ready by having multiple ways to receive weather alerts. weather.gov/safety/flood
After a wildfire: flash floods and debris flows. Floods and debris flows happen quickly after rainfall. Prepare now! Be aware of your surroundings and stay informed by having multiple ways to receive watches and warnings. Follow any evacuation or other instructions from local officials. If you have to shelter in place, get to the highest point inside your home. Go up, not out!

Considerable flash flooding is possible across portions of New Mexico & West Texas today into mid-week. Flash flooding impacts are particularly possible near burn scars, low-water crossings & areas of complex terrain. Avoid travel through already flooded & vulnerable areas.

The Nor’easter will weaken tonight, easing beach conditions and coastal flooding, though locally heavy rain will continue in parts of the Mid-Atlantic and New England into Monday.
NOAA key message: a strong nor’easter is slowly weakening—coastal flooding and gusty winds expected to ease tonight; rough surf and rip currents will gradually improve, but rain and pockets of locally heavy rainfall (1–2 in) linger into Monday with maps.
