Yes, that too.

At an absolute minimum he should have served as long as the abuse lasted. But I would propose a formula where the perpetrator serves the length of the abuse in hours, times the age difference between victim and perpetrator.

Thanks. All I want is for my beautiful daughter to be happy.

I would add: permanently damaged sexual and loving relationships for the rest of their lives. As a survivor I can honestly say, after 35 years of healthy and happy marriage, every sexual act I am present for is impacted by my past experiences. Every time.

My entire life my feminist mother has taught me that every woman, every woman, is beautiful. That plastic surgery is a tool of patriarchy to make women feel less than. It is a core moral belief I hold. And some parts I understand. But -not going to lie- I watched that beautiful child, Michael J.

And bonus points if the messages are cute, cheeky, silly, joy inducing, heart felt, or meaningful videos! Honestly, if half the emails or texts I got from Amy Klobuchar were her favorite poems I’d be more likely to give her money!

In my opinion candidates waste, WASTE, their emails! Give me something I value most of the time! Only ask for money some of the time!

I want no more than one of five emails from a candidate to be about fund raising. I want at least one teaching me about past accomplishments, one about policy plans, one call to action explaining what I can do right now to help move us forward, and one personal post explaining a ethical stance etc.

This is the most important bit! We absolutely have to claw back our stolen money.

I hate the waffle words in the news anymore. “Some lawmakers say is illegal.” It’s illegal, just say so.

A teacher friend gave me 1000 pencils with my name printed on them. They didn’t even last me a semester, even though every teacher and student in the building would bring them to me if they ran across them. (Retired art teacher.)

Have you actually read it? The panels and illustrations are nostalgic because our parents read the books to us. Go buy the books and read them, or have someone you love read them to you.

Bubbies are my favorite, but I live in Minnesota, so there aren’t any local deli pickles to have. But in general I prefer lacto fermented pickles like Bubbies.

I had not realized that non Minnesota places get so much less hail than we do. Apparently Minnesota has the highest rate of hail damage insurance claims in the country. (Totally non verified info, but seemed right when someone said it.)

The bees were cool! So buzzy and loud! They were landing and taking off from the lily pads, I thought they were remembering the flowers and nectar, but Sari thought they were thirsty and using the leaves to drink and bathe. They left us mostly alone, but they were drawn to my bright blue life jacket

Cascade Inn, I meant. I had an amazing egg and bacon burger! My husband had a triple pork panini, and my previously vegetarian daughter had fish and chips. It was great!

My sainted husband got up at six am to drive 5 hours to Kawishiwi lake, then drove us back to Brent, and then we caravaned to the Cascade in for dinner before driving home. I’m pleased to report that 10 months post surgery I had zero shoulder pain! And I’ve decided to cancel my ankle surgery!

And then a long day of paddling to Alice, where we did not get our favorite site, but got a nice sunny beach with good cedar trees for our hammocks! We stayed two nights to read and play cribbage and laze about. Then back through Kawishiwi to Malburg and thence to Polly. Out at Kawishiwi lake! …

And we were on a lot of rivers and marshes where we paddled through gigantic bee swarms! Always hanging out on lily pads. We put in at Brant, went to Gillis. Then Gabimichigami, where we were wind bound for 38 hours. Down through little Saganaga to Elton, Makwa, etc. to the Kawishiwi river. …

My daughter and I just got back from an 8 day BWCAW trip, and it was a funny birds and bees trip. We saw at least one or two massive eagles each day, swans, a kingfisher catching a fish, blue jays and a great northern portage chicken. My daughter claims it was a grouse, but I saw what I saw. 1/2

"This election is about the threat of trans kids" is the worst possible messaging for Dems yet so many candidates are leaning into it. No voter will flip R->D over it. Low-info voters read this as "you're focused on bullshit that doesn't affect me" while the base reads this as "you're an asshole."

Trump is historically unpopular, launching an illegal war no one wants, doing everything he can to increase prices, and breaking records for corruption. Any Democrat running for office who embraces transphobic talking points is acting like a loser in a defensive crouch. Nobody likes losers.

I'm really glad that Code Switch included this part of my interview, because I think these are the points that so often get lost in the discussion of trans panic and why the WNBA might be an ideal target for those anti-trans groups to latch onto. www.npr.org/2026/09/15/n...
We're talking about actual bigotry and the belief that this group of people shouldn't have, like, the same human rights as another group. It legitimizes them. And so the WNBA is a big platform for them to be able to do that. But I think what's actually really insidious about being the target is that transphobia is rooted in white supremacist ideas of who is allowed to be a woman and what a woman should look like. Those beliefs have, you know, negatively impacted Black and brown and non-Western women throughout history.

So what you have is a league in the WNBA that is full of Black women, 7-foot-tall women, masculine women, women who don't fit kind of the traditional markers of conventional white Western ideas of womanhood. And so I don't think it's surprising that transphobic ideas around the acceptable kind of woman are coming and impacting this league.

And I think the last piece that I will say is, I think, in some ways, the lack of visibility that the league had for a lot of years really protected it. Like, it wasn't as successful as it should have been because of racism and homophobia and misogyny. And once it becomes successful, the flip side of that is it really does become a different kind of victim of those ideas. And the fact that you have a league that is all women, predominantly Black women, largely queer women who have been successful and they don't need men to do it, and their product is not necessarily for men. I think that's a threat to the status quo. And so it's not just about protecting women's sports. It's actually about dismantling them from the inside.

I took French in middle school, Chinese in high school and was an exchange student in Germany . I spent my first 2-3 months in Germany spewing a mishmash of ridiculous nonsense. One day I swear I could actually feel German creating its own box in my brain. But I still muddle up Chinese and French.
