Changing perspective for chapter 4 👀

What happens next?
For the next chapter we are changing perspective. A bounty hunter has reached Darwen. She uses a sophisticated piece of technology as a weapon and sidekick. What is it?

A: A versatile mechanical arm with a mind of its own
B: A flying drone that is operated by augmented-reality glasses.
C:A raptor controlled through a neural-link implant that connects their minds.

DINOSAUR APOCALYPSE is a story about people surviving in England after a global (?) catastrophe switches large swathes of land with the late cretaceous I'm writing it out of a love for dinosaurs. If you like dinosaurs, you'll like this story. Just posted chapter 3 on discord: discord.gg/mffP8YxVSJ

A pen drawing (cleaned up in photoshop) showing a scene of two dinosaurs and their chicks with a human watching in a nearby tree. Overlayed text reads "for the second time today, Dana found herself up a tree, looking down at a family of dinosaurs."

evening at the cat office (2025)

2025 full color commission
portrait of a cat office at evening

in a dimly lit wooden study, a black long haired cat sits at a desk beginning needlework. She wears a plaid suit and sits in a sturdy chair, her tail wrapping around the frame of the desk. on her desk is a table cloth, and a top that is a whirring fan, a rotary phone, two books, a sake bottle and cup. A short hair siamese cat brings a steaming cup of tea. He wears a grey sweater with a red collar and cuff, and his tail sticks up energetically behind him.

An illustration of an eldritch horror. It is a snake whose belly opens up with too many sharp fangs. Inside the “mouth” is a galaxy. He plays on a bow of light made out of his own tail.

Is 90% of this story just the MC's looking at some dinosaurs doing stuff? ...yes Follow the story here: discord.gg/mffP8YxVSJ

Then, their parents slid into view, right below her. Two huge, 20 foot tall predators, moving silently through the woods. Dana tried to stay still and hoped they wouldn't notice her.

She recognised the one they called “Rex”. They always thought of him as an older male, with a wide snout covered in scars; but “his” companion was an even bigger specimen, and had a crest of bright green feathers around his neck, like a lion’s mane. It seemed as though Rex had found a mate, and was now a proud mother. The two predators walked so closely together, side-by-side, that it was easy to imagine them as loving parents, watching their children play. She could see Rex’s nostrils flare; he– SHE –had caught a scent. She looked up and stared right at Dana; the cold, calculating stare of a predator. Every muscle in her body tensed; she could feel herself tremble. If she wanted to, Rex could just push over the tree she was in and gobble her up for a light evening snack. But nothing happened.
Rex’s mate let out a hoarse bark, then sat down right beneath Dana’s tree. It shook with the force, and Dana had to hold on tight. Rex sat down beside him, and together they watched as their chicks played around them. Dana realised they were waiting for the tallnecks to leave, so they could eat their meal in peace. Dana thought they looked happy.

i worry that men think being A Good Guy is dramatically and heroically intervening on behalf of an endangered woman and then being publicly rewarded on a grand scale when actually being A Good Guy is just usually saying, “hey man that’s not funny” or “wow that’s fucked up” and there is no reward

I like it when the vote is divided! Makes me feel like I wrote equally interesting options.

A screenshot of a poll on discord, with the explanation text:

**A: Secure the kill.** They disturb the tallnecks to get their fuel and they start a fire. The predators are repelled, but they antagonise the 'necks.

**B: Wait.** They wait for the tallnecks to finish their lament and thus have to fight the predators for their kill.

**C: The Others.** Hunters from nearby Blackburn arrive, drawn by the tallneck's lament. They'll help fight the predators, but demand most of the kill in return.
