The 3DS was not the same either. The 3DS got a cut in price due to poor sales. To thank customers who bought it earlier, they gave away 20 free NES and GBA games to compensate them. That's it. The tariffs are not Switch 2 specifically. They are government enforced.

All items like consoles, controllers, accessories and games got marked up from a range of 10% to 40%. This didn't always reflect the items worth. It was up to the company to do to deal with the cost of paying the tariffs.

Nintendo are not in the clear morally but compared to Sony and Xbox, they are at least giving something back even if it's just a marketing ploy to keep a good image. The fault is solely on the US government though. Screaming at Nintendo for the problems your leadership caused is ridiculous.

Like its a logistical nightmare trying to give the money back to customers. How on earth do you think they're gonna be able to do that? How do you know who compensate and how much? You would like have to hire multiple extra staff to do it.

The Customer Appreciation Sale thing from Nintendo is fascinating to me. I don't think Nintendo should be getting to keep the money and I don't think the tariffs should have been done in the first place. The US government should be the ones having to give the money back to citizens directly.
