rozolen @rozolen.bsky.social · 05/10/2026Still forming a Lanterns take, but it’s a little strange to say “those guys are cops, this guys a superhero” when “this guy” started the ep torturing a guy with fear water for info. I get anti-authority is a popular message, but it’s muddied by the method, even if to a villain. 010

rozolen @rozolen.bsky.social · 20/09/2026Resident Evil (2026 film) [4/5] Ton of fun, but falls apart at the ending. Does a much of nods to the series, but… the movie ending with the character mimicking the intro, and the “heart” plot largely being resolved in n a way to leave game artifacts or theming left me cold. 001
rozolen @rozolen.bsky.social · 19/09/2026Finishing Collin from Accounts and The Bear has left me emotionally drained, and with Halloween coming, I need to switch to more lighthearted media… but maybe after Resident Evil. 000
rozolen @rozolen.bsky.social · 14/09/2026On my third book snippet in my nightly reading, my eyes… gave up? I can just read my phone, but not my e-reader. It’s the most Sims like feeling of my body refusing to listen… I guess tonight is another radio play. 000
rozolen @rozolen.bsky.social · 12/09/2026Colin from Accounts was unassuming for me cause I thought it was just about some guy (Colin) from Accounts, but… Colin is the dog, and it’s a rom-dramedy, which is an orbital strike on me 001
rozolen @rozolen.bsky.social · 11/09/2026Dual reading is fun, as there’re bridges you might never otherwise find. Tonight’s reading of Empire of the Vampires and Dungeon Crawler Carl… 2… both had bits about a character surprisingly realizing girls can be birthed bastards, too. 000

Reading through Unreasonable Hospitality (due to The Bear, which I have one episode to finish watching), I see lots of good advice and story, but one worrying thing, especially now that they’ve brought the title in the timeline. But first, medium rare. 100
rozolen @rozolen.bsky.social · 10/08/2026YT rec’d a video where a guy (at end, self described “your conservative uncle”) defended a book as misunderstood, smart commentary. (Paraphrased) Skip, check the book’s intro and it’s “year 2000, population will be 7b and sadly only 900m will be white,” and like no, that’s an overt message, dude. 000

rozolen @rozolen.bsky.social · 03/08/2026Saw the Hadestown proshot (?) at the movies today, and I largely liked it, but felt some of it was out of my grasp, somehow, but intentionally? rozolen @rozolen.bsky.social · 01/08/2026Augh, one other implicit/explicit rule that I never finished research for, but in chess, check(mate) could’ve been an implicit rule. Ex: the game is over when the king is taken is near equivalent to checkmate -1 round, and check is implicit “don’t be pretty sneaky sis,” or “watch for lethal.” 100
rozolen @rozolen.bsky.social · 01/08/2026Just remembered my short thesis re: explicit and implicit rules. That scene in Saw, where the guy says "He wants us to cut through our feet." Implicit, unstated rule. That moment is what game designers should strive for. 000
rozolen @rozolen.bsky.social · 01/08/2026Half thought on explicit vs. implicit rules, via Chess + Blood on the Clocktower. I'm still learning (on my own) how to play Chess from Duolingo and other apps. When I was young, I did learn all the rules, though I'd struggle on how to castle. My strategy, though, was awful. 100

rozolen @rozolen.bsky.social · 26/07/2026Another small thing while skimming Rainer Holl’s The Narrative Game re: Infinite Jest is how sport (which is play) is manufactured into work, and gives some argument of constantly performing as entertainment (important word.) rozolen @rozolen.bsky.social · 26/07/2026A small parallel between Beartown and Infinite Jest, that both seem to be re: the routines for people to follow very strictly, turning people to machines, and the consequences that follow… but I’ve got a ways to go in both, and the Madame Psychosis of IF, I might want to replay before proceeding 000

rozolen @rozolen.bsky.social · 15/07/2026I'm curious about the Archives of Nethys and Paizo situation, with the caveat that probably weeks will happen before it can settle, but it also parallels the WotC OGL Leak (just as someone released a draft OGL update, AoN released press mid-negotiation, and the entity needs to address it.) 110
rozolen @rozolen.bsky.social · 15/07/2026A mechanical spoiler for (100 pages in to) Infinite Jest, but I feel any looking into the book will yield that it has a lot of footnotes.
