I’m tired

But all that being said…I don’t think genAI is gonna take away jobs for the reasons ppl think it will. I think it’ll be a tale as old as time: the jobs will go poof bc the business that can financially survive the AI bubble bursting will get fat off the corpses of those that couldn’t and monopolize

Roxann @roxanncole.bsky.social · 29/05/2026
We’re gonna see studios start to bail on projects that began in their reactive over investments in genAI too. The AI bubble is the new far worse version of the dot com bubble, and it’s gonna suck ass when it bursts. We’re living through an economic clusterfuck example of ‘when it rains it pours’

Roxann @roxanncole.bsky.social · 29/05/2026
The studios I guess forgot, or failed to realize entirely, that animation in general is an expensive investment largely bc of time. Thats probably one reason why Gen AI talking points (that target animation) largely target addressing ‘time saving’ as a major selling point to investors.

Roxann @roxanncole.bsky.social · 29/05/2026
Yeah, if we’re gonna oversimplify the animation job crisis/recession I’d say the start is more around the Netflix animation boom followed by all the studios over investing en masse in animation bc of COVID stopping live production, creating a ln economic bubble that inevitably burst.

Color me not surprised.

I could write a whole dissertation explaining how and why nobody should be surprised by this Gutierrez ‘flip’. This isn’t a ‘flip’, this is an opportunistic miscalculation where he failed to recognize that his public image isn’t an impenetrable fortress but a flimsy house of cards.

Roxann @roxanncole.bsky.social · 29/05/2026
Oh he knows, lol, guy’s a self admitted opportunist. His reaction to everything so far screams ‘ah! I’m a covert narcissist who just got caught with my pants down, ah! Hurry! Gotta put on my dumb innocent teddy bear face so everyone feels bad about kicking me!’ To me.

It’s been a year, but still, I am this cookie.

Roxann @roxanncole.bsky.social · 29/05/2026
But…not surprised either. People like this keep making shows not based on actual merit or skill, but bc of how much more willing they are to sell out for quick buck, (especially if that buck comes at the expense of others). I’ve worked under a fair number of them.

Color me not surprised to hear about another ‘nice’ and ‘good’ man with a highly privileged career who talks a lot about their values only to show everyone that’s all it ever was: talk. Ppl like him should be taking risks and sacrificing their comfort rather pulling up the ladder underneath them.

I say we need a general strike because voting in the midterms alone simply won’t be enough to move the needle in a big enough way to keep this from happening again. The Dems are in the pockets of capitalists too, they just seek to maintain the og oppressive status quo over the chaos the GOP seeks
000
Roxann @roxanncole.bsky.social · 15/06/2025
A general strike would be a great (and peaceful) very effective act of protest. Disruption is a major part of any successful movement. Difficult to organize, but not impossible. Only 3.5% of the pop. need to participate to be effective, which, by some estimates, is the number of NoKings attendees
000
Roxann @roxanncole.bsky.social · 15/06/2025
Also, virtually every march of protest that has been effective was done in conjunction with long extended acts of disruption of the systems they were protesting. Including Selma, tho the whitewashed story of MLK would like you to believe otherwise (hmm, and why would that be do you think? 🤔)

Roxann @roxanncole.bsky.social · 15/06/2025
(Also look into and research the sites/organizations yourself, I did a brief look to make sure they weren’t phishing scams, but I’m not a master at checking such things so don’t take my word alone for it)

The range of attendees does vary by source so the number of 11mil may be inflated, but the low end is still 5 mil and that’s HUGE number of people that could make a major difference in mobilizing a general strike
000
Roxann @roxanncole.bsky.social · 15/06/2025
If every person who attended the #NoKings protest signed up for a general strike we would have enough people to make one effective. It only takes %3.5 of the population to be effective, and that equals out to about 11mil, the number of ppl who attended nationwide strikeforourrights.org/the-3-5-rule/

generalstrikeus.com Consider looking into this. If we want the needle to move we need to consider a general strike. Disruption of the status quo, and stopping the shift into a new more oppressive (and fascist) status quo, is one our best peaceful options at resisting.

I find it fascinating and revealing of how effective gradual shifts of rhetoric is as a tool of propaganda. Even how we’re taught about propaganda is propaganda, bc it makes us believe we can easily identify propaganda if you just know what to look for, making us blind to its more insidious tactics

And they would more likely stay bald, if not forever then def for a long time while the hair follicles heal from the cold damage.

It’s major cult brainwashed behavior fr 😩 we all need to be more active in deprogramming ourselves away from all the insidious ways ‘American exceptionalism’ has taken root in our subconscious. We’re all victims of it, right AND left, and deprogramming requires a conscious persistent effort to work

Im not saying the above news isn’t worth reporting just bc it’s from the yt/male bias, I just want to know what other ppl care about. Also, most the stuff I hear reported by yt ppl is all stuff I cant do much about w/ no advice on how to react. It all just feel like hopelessness/frustrated rage fuel
010
Roxann @roxanncole.bsky.social · 02/03/2025
I have to search HARD to see what things ppl from more marginalized groups are additionally reporting as newsworthy. Bc I see mostly yt men ind/news getting pushed I see mostly updates on: Russia/US/Ukraine relations, policy effects on general Economy stuff, and bad Elon/Trump/Republican actions.

I agree that media corps aren’t reliable sources of (mostly)objective news and that independent sources r the way to go: but I wish all the popular independent sources I hear about weren’t all helmed by white men…w/o diverse sources of news we’ll only ever see it from the yt/male bias, uncontested

Also it would allow for those who wouldn’t be striking to support by being those that can financially contribute to strike funds. For a gen strike to work the ppl striking would need to feel safe enough to survive a strike bc ppl would be risking homes, ability to pay for medical care, etc
000
Roxann @roxanncole.bsky.social · 01/03/2025
I don’t even think it would have to be a general strike across every employment sector to be effective. It would just need to be most ppl w/in a sector of work striking en masse and not just random ppl here n there across all areas. That would be to easy for corps to just replace.

I’m SHIT at handling anticipatory anxiety, but ask me to handle something in reaction to an immediate crisis and I can deal with that pretty well. Otherwise I’m just preparing for what might happen, which means I’m preparing for or trying to stop/prevent millions of horrifying possibilities

Anyone who has ever worked for any major corporation ever knows how bad they are at running a functional business. If not for all their grifting and theft none of these companies would actually be profitable.

Ah the hubris of the obscenely wealthy and thinking that someone’s wealth is a direct reflection of a persons intelligence…(I once met a super rich kid who genuinely straight faced told me he believed that ‘Only smart ppl get rich, and ppl only stay poor bc they’re to stupid to figure it out’)

It’s funny bc when they say ‘they’re gonna run the gov like a business’ bc this is exactly the bs corps do everyday lol. I’m convinced the only reason corps some make money instead of lose it despite this incompetence is only from abusing/grifting/leaching off the systems they’re now fucking with

Yeh, ADHD for sure ain’t helping, trying to get better with it too. But I’ve also been doing trauma work in therapy to work through CPTSD which, unfortunately, has a lot of comorbid executive function/attention symptoms. And those always get worse before they get better

I just can’t stay focused most the time these days (movies or tv) my brain just wants to move to much and I wander to much 😓 and ads just make my ability to stay engaged that much harder. It’s basically that ‘read the same paragraph over and over again’ exp but with tv/movies

I haven’t missed not watching anything on streaming services really, which kinda surprised me? I only have YouTube and AppleTV (bc it came with an IPad purchase), so I get to watch Severance which is the only thing I think I’d be sad to miss out on. But nothing else, kinda been nice
