Thank you! Whatever happens, I am so proud of them! I may actually go to Brazil to watch them in the WC!

This books is reminding me of Camus’s line that nihilism is not the belief in nothing, it is the disbelief in everything that is. The word “vile” comes to mind. Though I’m only 250 pages in.

William Gass’s masturbatory book, *The Tunnel*.

These amazing women (and I mean *all* the women in the competition!) definitely deserve more media coverage. I hear about the tournament a little bit, as it was kicking off and then – nothing. Such a pity!

I agree! They all have so much heart and passion! I don't know if I'd even known the competition was going on had I not been in Malawi last month

Rowena M. @rowenamonde.bsky.social · 12/08/2026

What an amazing underdog story! People have been texting me saying "Hey, weren't you born in Malawi?" 😆🇲🇼

‘Les fleurs animées’ or ‘The Flowers Personified,’ illustrated by French caricaturist J. J. Grandville (pseudonym of Jean Ignace Isidore Gérard, 1803-1847). The book was first published in 1847, but this is a later 1867 edition published in Paris by Garnier Frères. #botanicalillustration #rarebooks

It was a perfect morning in Zurich. I only had a few hours there between flights but I'm so glad I got to leave the airport and explore a little bit.

I love this quote. Seen in Zurich.

A black and white sign that says "Raoul Peck- Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it's faced." The sign has some black and white pictures on it, including a photo of Patrice Lumumba

I agree with you! I'm learning 3 languages currently and I actually feel I'm becoming a better language learner because I'm learning multiple languages.

Finished watching Wentworth today and I'm genuinely a bit sad. What great characters that show had. Also, the lingo made me want to visit Australia.

Excellent review! I'm glad you mentioned the Hervé Guibert book, that book moved me so much. I'll see if I can find this book in French. Thank you:)

I'm looking even more forward to the Han Kang now, I loved her "Human Acts"!

I'm currently looking through my shelves to see what I have! I'm thinking I might read "The Vegetarian" by Han Kang and "Fresh Water for Flowers" by Valerie Perrin <3

This is a sign! I really like him too

Thank you! It made me so happy to know that I’d planted a few trees!

Yes!! Walking along the river was one of my personal highlights :)

Quite a few people I’ve spoken to said they didn’t like Frankfurt so I wasn’t expecting much, just wanted to leave the airport during an 11-hour layover. I absolutely loved it ❤️

Something cute I saw in Frankfurt!

Planter with purple asters. Planter is grey in colour and has duck heads and necks adorning it

It looks like the books haven’t been translated into English yet. I can read French, albeit slowly, so maybe I’ll buy a copy on Amazon after reading your review :)

I planted this mango tree in my mum’s village 6 years ago. I was soooo happy to see it thriving ❤️

Liwonde National Park at sunset. Saw some hippos earlier in that river.

Sunset. Palm trees are visible in the foreground and some water (river) is visible in the background

Yesterday while I was out and about a man who is running for mayor of my municipality stopped me to explain his platform. He asked me about my background and then asked me if id like to register as a councillor in his new party 😂😂😂

It’s been ages since I read a classic novel and I’m excited to get into this one. Didn’t even know I had it until I started organizing my bookshelves last week. #Balzactogether
