That guy is dressed like a caricature of an activist. From what I recall of Israeli TV (over 20 years ago) their idea of dark humour was exactly like this.

Non-drivers of any age deserve to travel safely. And everyone deserves to choose the mode of transportation that suits them, and not be forced to drive a car in a city.

The mobility of children is simply not taken seriously or viewed as important. Something illustrative is how people will often say that kids "don't count" when you remind them that children and young teens are nondrivers who deserve the right to get around without cars.

That doesn't disprove that Israel has become a fascist state. History shows that Western nations can descend into fascism. Pointing fingers at others instead of preventing the break down of democracy is the first sign of fascism taking root. Those were also not the only counties that walked out.

I understand Hebrew. It was “Am Israel Chai.” It’s a very familiar song to anyone Jewish. If there were others chanting while walking out, I didn’t hear it. I only heard the chant I recognize immediately.

You’re right that the original intent of the song was of survival after the Holocaust. It has, especially in recent years, turned into a right wing anthem celebrating the State of Israel (as opposed to the original meaning of the people of Israel).

It’s Hebrew: Am Israel Chai. The literal translation is “The nation of Israel lives.” It’s essentially “long live Israel.” It has become the rallying song of the far right.

It’s lovely to see teens thank the bus driver when they exit the bus. But there’s a norm from bigger cities I’d like to see normalized here too. To make room on a crowded bus, if you’re standing, take off your backpack and hold it in your hand.

My biggest pet peeve is that in many places in Canada, you can’t get to work without a car. Even young people starting out are forced into debt to get to a job that doesn’t pay enough to own a car.

I don’t know about Australia. In Canada, we have a system that requires debt. I had a friend who had a good job at 20. Wanted to save for a house. He had trouble getting a credit card because he had no credit history. I didn’t either at his age. Just had a low wage job. I could get a credit card.
