Somebody installed one piece of the Jumbotron 90 degrees off from how it’s supposed to be.
A photo of the head and shoulders of a man in a suit holding a microphone. It’s a little pixelated and garish because it’s a photo of a Jumbotron at a hockey game. The man’s right eye is rotated 90 degrees from how eyes normally are.

Nice day to visit Salt Lake City

Score, sure, whatever. The real news is that shot differential. #Canes #Caps #NHL
At 2:52 left in the first period, the Capitals are leading the Hurricanes 3-0 — but more importantly, the Caps have 15 shots on goal vs the Canes’ 10.

Why is #Apple so bad at designing its own operating system? This is its own maps app in Tahoe 26.6.2. There is some "feature" of its UI that . . . blurs stuff near the tops of window elements? Even when they're non-scrollable?
A screenshot of a portion of the Apple Maps UI. There is a searchbar that says "Apple Maps" and then directly below that, there is a list that has the label "Places," with "Pinned" and "Saved Places" below that. The word "Places" is so blurred out that it is barely legible.

Our condo building has a new insurance provider & as the fuckin HOA President I got nominated to do their on-boarding self-inspection. I am now FILLED with confidence in their competence.
The body of an email from Honeycomb Insurance. It reads: "Thank you for choosing Honeycomb Insurance!

Your policy documents are being prepared as we speak, in the meantime we ask that you complete a self property inspection by taking a few photos of the property using our inspector app (no download required).

This process takes most customers 10 minutes or less, and gives us the information we need to finalize the on-boarding process.

This inspection is required and must be completed by 09/09/2026. Failure to complete the inspection will result in a notice of cancellation.

To begin the inspection please click the "Get Started" button below. "

Then below the body of the email, there are two rectangular buttons. One is bright orange and is labeled "Get Started" (the other is orange-and-white and says "Learn More")A screenshot of a page open in my web browser on my laptop. The URL bar says "https://drone.honeycombinsurance.com/welcome"

It reads:

also rely on this research to make decisions about the products and services they provide.

You were specifically chosen.
That's why you're so important.

Few are invited to participate in the ratings. Choosing to take part is your chance to have your listening and viewing choices included in the audience reports provided to radio and
TV stations, cable and satellite providers, and other businesses.

You'll represent your community by providing information about your radio and TV usage.

So participating is very important!

Participating in the ratings costs absolutely nothing.

We'll never ask you to buy anything or pay to be part of the ratings. We also won't give your name or contact information to any company that would try to sell you something. In fact, we provide cash rewards for people that participate in this important research.

Your personal meter makes it easy.

Being in the ratings is simple. We will give a personal meter to you and each member of your household age 6 or older. All you do is wear your meter as you go about your day. The meter identifies the media you encounter by looking for special broadcast codes and soundwave patterns to match against a library of media content. This method collects media choices without saving or sending any actual audio.

The meter is small and lightweight, the size of a fitness watch.
It comes with three ways to wear: a clip, a wristband, and a lanyard.

A close-up of the head of a juvenile black rat snake — you can see its white jawline, and its pretty eyes. Its neck does a tight S-curve back, to our left, and then back to the right. Its scales are black and shiny. The ground below it is tan and gravelly.

Wikipedia says that it’s difficult to get a snake plant to go into bloom outside of its natural habitat, but we didn’t do anything at all . . .
A roughly 10-inch-high snake plant in a small white pot sitting on a white table. In the background there is wallpaper with a pattern that looks like blue lollipops.

The snake plant consists of several thick green leaves with yellow-green edges, shaped like spear points, growing straight up from the earth in the pot.

Nestled between the leaves there is a thin stalk with a couple of dozen greenish-white offshoots — they are flowers, not quite open yet. Several clear drops of liquid can be seen at the points where the flowers meet the stalk.

#BigEars is, generally speaking, the most well-run festival I have ever attended. Which is why the unventilated former Greyhound station, apparently with side rooms that are off limits due to major sketch and mold, is such an odd anomaly.
A wide-angle photo looking into a high-ceilinged space, with a lighting truss in the middle of it. The walls and ceiling feature multicolored splotches from a projection system. There are a lot of people’s backs visible — they are all facing an unseen stage. To the left of the frame, in the extreme foreground, there is a white wall heavily lit with blue light. It has a vertical red “Fire Extinguisher” sticker on it. Immediately below the sticker is the metal hook where the fire extinguisher would have been.

NBC out here trying to prove that they are nowhere near finished getting worse at sports broadcasting. The game I'm trying to watch is in the box on the right-hand side of the screen, the one that's less than half the total area of the screen.
A photo of a television set. On the right-hand side, there is an inset box with a hockey game happening in it. It takes up approximately 30% of the total screen real estate. The rest of the screen is just a list of four other sports I could be watching -- it says TODAY in massive letters at the top, and then the list is Skeleton, Cross-Country Skiing, Skeleton (again), and Freestyle Skiing. All in very large type with a ton of dead space around the words. Meanwhile, I'm trying to watch a fuckin hockey game.

There is a restaurant a couple of blocks from my house (in #DurhamNC) that specializes in New Mexico-style green or red chile burritos. Like, for example, this:
A big oval plate sits on a red plastic lunch tray lined with red-and-white checkered paper.

The plate is swimming in a deep reddish-brown sauce. 2/3 of the plate is taken up by an oblong shape — it’s a burrito, but that’s hard to discern — which is smothered in melted cheese and more of the red sauce.

Arranged around the edges of the plate are dollops of sour cream and guacamole, some pico de gallo, and some large dark beans.
