Rosoll 🇵🇸 FREE PALESTINE @rosoll.bsky.social · 04/09/2026I read the end of the “learn to code era” a bit differently: “learn to code” for a long time has been a very particular catchphrase associated with bootcamps etc. it was meant to be the easy way to a high paying job. Sacked journalists were mocked with it. 100

Rosoll 🇵🇸 FREE PALESTINE @rosoll.bsky.social · 04/09/2026It’s definitely not a solved problem though! We’re still figuring it out. We’re a small team and didn’t have any juniors, so we’ve just sped up rather than replacing anyone. It’s doing work we would have done OR if we’d had juniors we would have farmed out to them. 200
Rosoll 🇵🇸 FREE PALESTINE @rosoll.bsky.social · 04/09/2026Claude writes better code than junior devs would, so we trust it more. We risk stratify changes and review risky code thoroughly and non risky code less thoroughly that we previously would have. We rely on verification, testing and monitoring for spotting problems quickly. 100
Rosoll 🇵🇸 FREE PALESTINE @rosoll.bsky.social · 04/09/2026Compilers were pretty revolutionary though! If they can have as much impact as that then it’ll be a pretty big win. Agree they’re massively overhyped though and the idea that they’re “sentient” is ridiculous 100
Rosoll 🇵🇸 FREE PALESTINE @rosoll.bsky.social · 04/09/2026There’s lots of problems with AI and it is breaking many parts of how good software engineering works (not least code review) and no one has the solutions yet… but it’s just not true anymore that it can’t produce good code and it undermines legitimate criticism to pretend otherwise. 000
Rosoll 🇵🇸 FREE PALESTINE @rosoll.bsky.social · 04/09/2026We do, every day. We review critical code thoroughly and low risk code less thoroughly. We track our rate of bugs and incidents and it hasn’t increased, even as our deployments have gone up by 50%. 200
Rosoll 🇵🇸 FREE PALESTINE @rosoll.bsky.social · 04/09/2026Well that’s kind of the point isn’t it? You can use it for the things that are lower complexity, lower risk - exactly the kind of stuff with a small blast radius you’d give to a junior to help them learn. The critical and complex stuff still needs experienced engineers. 200
Rosoll 🇵🇸 FREE PALESTINE @rosoll.bsky.social · 04/09/2026Can you expand on which part in particular you think is bollocks? AI has lots of problems, but in my experience it’s well past the point of being able to write better code than a junior engineer, and is significantly better than many mid level engineers I’ve worked with given the right harness. 100
