Looking to breathe new life into a historic building? Alongside grants and loans, we provide advice and support to help communities across the UK find enterprising ways to revitalise the old buildings they love. Check out our website to see how we can help you: 👉 ahfund.org.uk
“Given the nature of the project – bringing a large part of a Grade 1 Listed building back to life after many years of abandonment – having the backing of an organisation to turn to has been invaluable, especially when dealing with significant issues where the knowledge and experience within the AHF has been available.” The Penzance Regeneration Company. The exterior of the Market House, Penzance. Today the University College of Estate Management (where I'm a proud trustee) becomes The University of the Built Environment. This isn't just a change of name, it's a statement of our wider role and future ambitions. Huge congratulations to the team. www.ube.ac.uk

I'm donating £163. I've been a massive fan of the work of @archhfund.org.uk for many years and even more so since I joined the board & seen what they achieve at close quarters. Whilst we work with buildings, what we do is about people. Have a look at website if you don't believe me!

I've given £48 this #GivingTuesday in celebration of 48 years of supporting communities to reimagine their built heritage & because I believe the UK is immeasurably richer with well-maintained, accessible historic buildings at our communities' hearts. If you're able, hope you'll consider joining me!

Last night saw the opening of the Christmas Lights @leedscastle.bsky.social in Kent and they are absolutely stunning, made all the more so by the beautiful landscaped gardens. I went with my family and they loved it.

Lots of talk here on @bsky.app about echo chambers. After the Brexit vote I realised that I'd been living in one, and since then I have worked hard to listen to range of opinions, including those I don't agree with. Short 🧵

As a blood cancer survivor I would really love people to sign up. I was lucky enough not to need a transplant but for many people it's their only hope of survival. Anyone up to age 55 in reasonable health can apply to join the register. www.dkms.org.uk/donation-exp...
