The debates surrounding Bad Bunny & the Spanish language Super Bowl halftime show have led many friends and family to encourage me to respond. I will take this opportunity to migrate my 2019 thread to this platform. It offers my arguments in the way I prefer to give them, with the receipts/sources.

I'm confused. 1889 Allen&Ginter General Gov't & State Capitol Buildings set of 50 cards, 41 of which are purportedly state capitols. Existence of a Dakota card suggests printing before the Feb 1889 bill which split Dakota in 2 but why are MT & UT on the checklist while ID, WA, &c. aren't? 🗃️

Agreed. I was under my desk observing the difference. Not the rolling or deep ground shifting I’m used to at all. More like when they dynamite nearby. Glad my instincts are still fast though. Childhood of quakes make you go straight into move mode, even in NJ!

I enjoyed the performances in Oppenheimer and don’t begrudge the Oscars, but once again I want to point out that the movie portrayed NM as a completely empty land with absolutely no one living there before the scientists showed up. This is a disservice to a place that has a rich deep history!

Jansen Must Go! (text)
July, 1957.

Jansen Must Go!

Dr. William Jansen, superintendent of schools has failed the new Negro and Puerto Rican children of the City of New York. He has

Failed to provide experienced teachers for our schools.
Failed to change the zoning laws lines to promote integration.
Failed to plan new schools to avoid double sessions.
Failed to provide special guidance for pupils who need it most.
Failed to act on integration reports.
Dr. Jansen does not have the will or the vision to do the job. He will be 70 years old in October. Our children can not wait until June, 1958. He should be retired now!

Freedom School Lesson Plan (text)
North to Freedom?
When Negroes go North, what are they looking for? (bettter jobs, homes, schools, more money) Do you think they find what they’re looking for?

Why have they had school boycotts in protest against segregation in Chicago, New York, and Boston?

Do you have relatives that live in the North, what do they say?

Is there better housing in the North? Or just overcrowded bad housing?

Is there better jobs? (Median income for Negroes is 1/2 less than for whites) Does it cost more to live in the North?

In the North, is the Negro really free, really equal, why? Conclude: Negro is a second class citizen all over the United States and can’t really escape by going North.

The Secondary set of questions should be raised at this point.Black and white photograph of Ella Baker at a microphone, speaking and gesturing while wearing a white dress and sunglasses.
