Your Class, a d6 roll for Laborer, High Class, Academic, Vereran, Criminal, or Clergy, determines your starting equipment. Then players roll for a Curse, which gives 3 abilities or features (sometimes negative ones) and a method exclusive to them for relieving stress

Each player has 3 stats: Strength, Athletics, and Lucidity and 3 saves: Reflex, Fear, and Stamina. There are also 3 meters: Stress, Frost, and Wounds Its a d20 (d10 for the meters) roll-under system.

Around the hex map, the GM places 3-6 Omens that, when at least three are dealt with, give the players access to the Castle. These Omens are like the Myths from Mythic Bastionland. Each omen can reveal something about the castle, or provide some sort of advantage to the players

Set in a frigid, mountainous, forested region, every generation or so the Lady of Blood, Countess Severine, resurrects, and her phantom castle is seen somewhere off in the distance. Players are Cursed, disposable to civilization regardless of their background, and sent to slay the Countess.

And it ended with one player being carried off by the monster while the others chased them in their van through a corn field until they caught up and managed to get the killing shot before crashing the van into a telephone pole, nearly killing one of them

And when the lone player (with a friend NPC) were being attacked and almost killed, the other two got to show up triumphantly in their van. They got to make some further hard choices as to how to balance killing this thing, keeping the NPC safe, and themselves safe (they all almost died)

For the climactic battle i had the opportunity to split the party and have one of them be a bit more defenseless while trying to set up the monster's weakness (they needed to salt the earth of its den) while the other two convinced a show to end for the night to prevent anyone from being attacked

Closed the first mystery on the MotW game ive been running for my group. I really feel like ive gotten back into my groove with GMing. The players had a lot of fun, I had a lot of fun, there were so many good roleplaying moments.

Its crazy how in my first CPunk2077 playthrough i never even got my Int above 3 and never tried even the most basic hacking, and now in my second playthrough im having a blast just acting like a poltergeist without needing to even step into a building (shotgun solo build is still peak imho)
