Unless the moment is actually better told. It's not the norm, I will agree, but there ARE times where telling actually is better. One must be careful not to let it become a crutch, but even the idea of "show, don't tell" is not a hard and fast rule.

Evidently what I needed to overhaul my WIP was write to myself the reader It worked out with added developmental chapters, making the first-half antagonist far more menacing, and overall letting the story tell itself rather than me telling an audience what I thought they needed to read
