Wages of unionized workers are 13% higher than their nonunion counterparts. But unions also set a higher pay standard that all workers enjoy. In high-union-density states, median household income is $12,000 higher than in low-union-density states. This is why unions are vital.

I recently deleted my Facebook and Instagram profiles. At some point, the anxiety exceeded the joy with them. The social and environmental disasters surrounding tech billionaires are remarkable, not to mention the social and economic inequality generated in the process. No regrets, what so ever.

My colleague and friend @leesawheelahan.bsky.social and her life- and intellectual partner Gavin Moodie published a book. I guarantee it's worth reading and it should be of great interest to people interested in vocational education practice, policy and research. brill.com/display/titl...

At the excellent @jvetjournal.bsky.social 2025 conference in Oxford 🇬🇧, I had the opportunity to present ongoing work with my colleagues @leesawheelahan.bsky.social, Antti Seitamaa and Penni Pietila. We draw upon critical realist philosophy, further developing the concept of #reflexivity.

Yes, it's unbelievable. What sustainability and inclusion were meant for when they were coined in the 1960s was to promote economic growth policy, not decline it. Thus far Trump's policy is not just socially disastrous, it backfires in the face of their own agenda.

What was desired with #inclusion when it was coined in the 1960s was to PROMOTE economic growth policies. Not DECLINE them, as the Trump administration does now. #DEI

In this article with Leesa Wheelahan, we use the critical realist concept of depth-ontology to examine personhood which is related to, but distinct from, human agency, social structure and the social context in which people practise their skills. www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10....

What I like most about this UK school of humanism is that it is based on realism, the philosophy of real people living in a real world and not a fantasy one.
