The Running Fence was the best art of the Bicentennial. Christo exemplified the American Dream. A illegal immigrant from the Soviet bloc raises millions of dollars and works through a four-year permit process to install a 24.5-mile long fabric fence that no one understood except marathon runners. 🇺🇸🗽

24.5 miles is the distance from Marathon to Athens, and was the Olympic marathon length until 1908. The creation of the Olympic marathon event was inspired by the Greek victory at the Battle of Marathon where the fledgling democracy survived an invasion by the Persian Empire.

Fair point. But PR remains an unrepresented territory of the United States. PR has to make their own future and not depend upon leadership to shepherd them to freedom or statehood. The citizens and taxpayers of mainland DC have been much clearer on their resolve for representation.

Democratic leaders failed a clear moral and democratic obligation. Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico, predominantly Black and Latino are denied statehood and congressional representation. When Democrats held power, they didn’t fight hard enough. We the people are the only hope for change. 🇺🇸♾️
