Some new-old music arrived in the mail today. These originally hit me during some formative and tumultuous years. #voxtrot #vinyl

Sleeves for the Voxtrop "Early Music" LP

"In the he summer of 2002 I had a handful of songs written to record as an EP before mo noving to Glasgow, where I was starting university that fall. It was meant to be e an impermanent recording project but the group of people that came together to record those songs gs morphed slowly into Voxtrot. The early 2000s were a sweet time in Austin rent was cheap and the scene was concentra Twee, zolo, hardcore, electronic....all genres coexisted peacefully and in addition to great venues like Emo's and Beerland, house parties were a force all own, sometimes attracting as much as a few hundred people. Austin changed so much since then but I think the essential spirit still remains open-hearted, a little bit wild, ultimately free. I detected a lot of this same spirit during my time in Glasgow, and the cross-pollination between my informal musical education there and the accomplished artistry of my bandmates here in Autsin formed the core of Voxtrot's sound. As a band we went on to experience so much together and as individuals we have evolved considerably over the years, but I like to think that the heart of Voxtrot still lives in that original place of freedom, open, wild, allowing for life to come dancing through.

I wish I would have recorded how excited I was that there were real instructions inside the boxes of Star Craft miniatures. One of the few things beyond sculpting that GW still does right and other companies don't care to replicate. Never had a paper assembly […] [Original post on mstdn.social]

The image shows a hobby workbench or crafting area filled with components for a tabletop miniature game based on the StarCraft franchise.

Central Elements

Kerrigan & Omega Worm Miniatures Booklet: On the left sits a booklet featuring a painted miniature of Sarah Kerrigan in her Queen of Blades form. It has a purple and white themed cover and reads "StarCraft Tabletop Miniature Game" at the top.

Zeratul Promo Miniature Booklet: To the right of the Kerrigan booklet is another guide showing a painted miniature of the Protoss character Zeratul holding a glowing green warp blade. It reads "StarCraft Tabletop Miniature Game" and "Zeratul Promo Miniature".

Miniature Components

Purple Plastic Sprue: Resting on top of the Kerrigan booklet is an un-assembled purple plastic sprue containing various molded pieces for miniature figures, likely matching the Zerg faction theme.

Grey Plastic Sprue: Positioned behind the Zeratul booklet is a grey plastic sprue with un-assembled parts, likely for Protoss or Terran units.

Background Figures: In the upper background, several small, partially assembled or painted miniatures are lined up on the workspace.

Workspace & Setting

Cutting Mat: The entire scene is laid out on a dark grey self-healing cutting mat marked with a red grid pattern.

Hobby Supplies: In the far background, various bottles of paint, glue, and crafting tools are visible on shelves or racks, typical of a miniature painting workstation.

I know a lot of people have trouble following all the purchases and investments in the AI industry, so I found this really helpful diagram to explain how all these companies are tied together. #AI

First full day in #Minneapolis we hit the famous Al's Breakfast. Food was great. It apparently used to just be an alley the first owner got permission to put a roof on. Only wide enough for a single counter the length.

#Minneapolis we have arrived. When we got to #stpaul wife said "look at this little city, it's so cute!" We have collapsed safely in our apartment for the week. I think we might have the energy to eat before many hours of unconsciousness.

RIP John Blanche. Wow a kick in the teeth. He seemed so active as of late, this just feels so sudden.

Photo of a young John Blanche with the following caption.

"sad news today.

John Blanche's wife Lin has asked me to let you all know that John passed away a couple of days ago.

John was an inspirational artist, devoted to his family and a good friend to many. Always generous with his time and knowledge, he was very well loved by all who knew and worked with him. He'll be hugely missed.

The world of Warhammer was brought to life by his vision of the grimdark setting and I know his art meant a lot to so many of you. He leaves behind an enormous legacy that has enriched many people's lives.

The family will say goodbye to John privately but there will be a get together in the future for everyone to celebrate John's life.

When an entire generation wonders "what if my home were more like a sports bar?" I can't decide what's funnier, the outlet that should be hidden behind the TV poking out under it, or that the "fireplace" it needed to be mounted above is a fake wood stove insert.

The distinctive, dark wooden exterior of Mader's Restaurant in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Architecture: The building features a prominent, overhanging bay window structure with intricate dark wood paneling and carvings. The architecture is authentic Bavarian German in style.
Windows: The large windows are composed of many small, circular panes of glass with a reddish tint, giving them a unique appearance.
Signage: The name "Mader's" is visible in a traditional font on a sign just below the roofline of the bay window section.

A large platter of traditional German cuisine served on a silver tray. The meal is called the "Tour of Germany"

Meats: The platter includes slices of cured or smoked pork loin, a piece of slow-cooked pot roast (likely Sauerbraten, a marinated pot roast), and at least two breaded and fried cutlets (likely Schnitzel), one of which is garnished with a lemon wedge.

Sides:

Cabbage: A generous serving of white sauerkraut and a mound of red cabbage (Rotkohl), which is often served with Sauerbraten.

Noodles/Dumplings: A large portion of Spätzle (soft egg noodles).

Potatoes: Sliced potatoes, possibly a warm German potato salad, dressed with chives or herbs.

Sauce: A small, silver gravy boat is filled with a rich brown gravy or sauce, which is typically served over the roast and dumplings.

The overall presentation is rustic and abundant, characteristic of traditional German "home cooking" or tavern fare.

Time to dump some Adepticon photos. Played a fun back and forth game of Shatterpoint with my friend. #Shatterpoint #adepticon #adepticon2026

A tabletop wargame setup for star wars Shatterpoint. The scene is set on a desert-like mat with multiple 3D terrain pieces, including elevated walkways, platforms, and structures, creating a multi-level battlefield.

Several miniatures of characters and troops are positioned across the terrain. At the bottom of the image, four character cards are visible, identifying some of the figures involved in the game:

Wrecker and Omega

Clone Sergeant Hunter

Captain Cassian Andor

Bodhi Rook
