That's your hint at how many they're thinking about

This is downright embarrassing.

Agreed. Technology changes by ratios, not by addition. How more intelligent is AI from one's own perspective compared to 3 years ago (2023). Two times? Three years from now, the fall of 2029, we should expect that "two times" yet again -- what does that mean? And, yes, "two times" is a low estimate.

There is no maximum number to these ... periodic server upgrades for max performance (for new architectures) and total throughput mean continual "value" to putting more in orbit every technology cycle. I'd like to see an end-of-life "boost out of orbit" capability mandated to bleed off the junk.

Does the Mind Shape Reality? A New Experiment Puts Quantum Consciousness to the Test | IONS
Human consciousness might be the missing piece of the "measurement problem", and its influence might even stretch backward through time.

The immediacy of the moment is not yet recognized in many of the comments. This is a 1-3 year horizon on the current course. And we simply are unable to know what will be on the other side of that "singularity". Thus the bunkers.

I remember it well. The movie "The China Syndrome" came out just a few days before it happened. Big deal.

The battle is at the margins ... and my gut says that more and more voters in Texas, raised to be decent people in their own minds, are thinking twice about this.

I always first ask, of a concept, what does it "do" in a physical implementation... not what it "is". Implicit in algorithms, but for oscillatory systems?... Nice to see this.

The particular definition of "productive" carries a heavy burden here.

Ron Cline @roncline33.bsky.social · 02/09/2026
I see very little "friction" in this system right now. And the low behavior you see in the fringes is also low energy compared to the built-in return-energy (rage) that low-information people have right now. At least that's what I'm seeing. Fingers crossed.

I'm encouraged we're reaching this huge negative undershoot so quickly. The turnaround that is coming is going to be sharp, and with a return energy that could do a lot of good in this world. It's not a certainty, but it fits what is happening, and is my hope. We just need goals to hold in common.

Interesting, but not sure that's an argument for the student getting the privilege to vote in that state's elections. And I didn't get to vote in the state we owned retirement property in ... until we actually moved there.

The CEO's actually saying "less people" is spot on for the attitude that human resource is just a lump of something and can't even be counted as individuals.

So ... the year we came out of covid, the food business stuck it to us for a one-time 20% kicker. And never gave it back. I wonder who supports the politicians in the farm states? Those corporate "persons", perhaps?

The trick, like for us, is when the AI has to make a decision within a bunch of orthogonal value choices. And within a specified time frame. (Of course, it will be able to time-out and force a pseudo-random choice if need be.)

Motion smoothing makes things look "real", and we are self-conditioned not to want "real" when watching anything that doesn't have a live source. "Real" on live shows, however, is expected and we're OK with that. What's that all about?
