Hop cones out to dry. Left: "klev". My first harvest from this plant. Very mild aroma. Not enough for a brew. Not sure what to do with it. Right: "hulla norrgård". Surprisingly citric aroma (a characteristic otherwise mostly found in American hops) and decent bitterness. I will brew with this one

I don't know when I last bought balsa sheets from a hobby shop, it must've been in the 80s. But now I did and made this completely improvised airplane build. Quite OK, I think. It flies reasonably well.

Cut sheets of balsa on a table. You can see the rough shape of the fuselage and also the wings. There's a tube of glue and unused pieces of balsa.

I'm in Munich, and I too am pining for fjords, but for a completely different reason.

Björn Fahller @rollbear Kveik is a family of yeast that likes to operate at fairly high temperatures, which is why I let these small demijohns with mead ferment by the fireplace. The cat probably helps moderate the temperatures somehow.

The meadow sweet (Filipendula ulmaria) is blossoming, time to make mead. Contrary to its English name, it adds bitterness, not sweetness. The smell reminds a bit of marsipan. This is a very old flavouring for mead.

Blossoming plants. Each plant has hundreds, if not thousands, of tiny pale yellow flowers, each no larger than 3mm diameter.

They seemed annoyed with me being there, so I decided to make a detour. I took a few phone photos while they were circling. This is the least bad one.

Interesting. I presume it's credentials phishing? It's all bogous. I run the mailserver myself, so it's not a google account. The interesting bit, though, is that the message passes the DKIM signature check for accounts.google.com. Did anything interesting happen to google's keys lately?
