After decades of seeing the cost of storage always going down, it's really messing with me that the 1TB external SSD I bought three years ago for $65 now retails for ~$150.

Netflix wasn't around then as a streaming provider (mid to late Nineties), but I understand your point. The concern then was a bit different, in that ISPs would require their customers to pay extra for access to specific sites (or at least those that weren't bundled in or whatever).

Peter Rojas @roj.as · 28/08/2026
To be fair, the concern around zero rating circa thirty years ago was that ISPs would make it impossible for anyone that wasn't a big established media company to reach an audience.

Yes, the problem is that people aren't wearing enough tech-themed clothing, not that they have valid complaints about the impact of tech on their lives.
The backlash against A.I. spans age, race, class and political party. Will merch actually change the narrative?
Niv Dror, founder of the venture firm Shrug Capital, said he believed it could humanize the industry. He suggested tech-themed stores that carry all the cool new apparel and tchotchkes, as well as books by tech C.E.O.s and venture capitalists. "Why isn't there a Nordstrom for tech?" Mr. Dror asked. Or even a whole mall?
"Tech will be better understood when people actually see it in culture," he said.

I appreciate how the New York Times made sure to explain how this username came from the dragon language in Skyrim.
Mr. Klayme's username was fus_ro_dah, while the messages came from an account with the username fus_ro_dah, which had two underscores in it between fus and ro, according to the ruling.
Both names come from the dragon language in the role-playing console game The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and roughly translate to force, balance and push.

Yeah, to me the takeaway is that people want that even larger format. I could imagine they could make a digital projector that does it if it's too tough/not worth it to make new film projectors.

That there will be conspiracy theories is now just baked into the aftermath of the death of any prominent person. I think I've seen at least one half-baked theory surface after the death of every single celebrity, influencer, or politician in the past year.

Many voters don't have especially sophisticated views on policy, so they look at how strongly a politician fights for their positions as a proxy for how good those ideas are.
