Hayden @roguedunedain.bsky.social · 6hIs it a good safety feature? Probably. Does it annoy me to never have the full context? So much god damn 010

Hayden @roguedunedain.bsky.social · 03/10/2026There's a pretty decent argument that the empire failing to effectively give newcomers into the empire a similar way of becoming Roman by the 300s was a major cause of the fall of western Rome 140
Hayden @roguedunedain.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Pretty much. Any non citizen subject of Rome who served in the army was given citizenship after their (20 odd year) enlistment was up, which made their children Roman citizens as well. And Roman citizenship was the important part, not colour or race 130
Hayden @roguedunedain.bsky.social · 03/10/2026That said, Roman legions were (kind of) less institutionally racist I guess, but that was more due to how Rome viewed race and being Roman 130
Hayden @roguedunedain.bsky.social · 03/10/2026It is really weird. I can see the Legion being more cosmopolitan (it makes sense given the Roman inspiration) but the abolitionist aspect is super odd 220

We are a schizophrenic system struggling to make ends meet and just trying to get by however we can. Our goal is $500, but any amount is a huge help. 168
Hayden @roguedunedain.bsky.social · 17/09/2026I saw someone complaining about all the stuff with nevarre like it wasn't some of the coolest stuff in fantasy recently 010
Hayden @roguedunedain.bsky.social · 17/09/2026It's interesting, because as someone who does play tabletop RPGs, I liked how most of them do kind of feel like TTRPG characters, but I do agree it's weird in the context of the game 010
Hayden @roguedunedain.bsky.social · 15/09/2026In all seriousness that you appreciate RPGs that aim to tell a story and give the player a role in that story rather than ones that emphasise player choice 010

Hayden @roguedunedain.bsky.social · 10/09/2026It's the most obvious legacy of the live service game it once was, so no wonder it doesn't work in an RPG 020
Hayden @roguedunedain.bsky.social · 03/09/2026Its such a cool piece of lore, and it just makes sense 010
