Cultural studies, literature and politics, mostly. I actually like social media. I violently dislike AI, that very expensively produced virus. Trans-friendly, anti-racist, anti-capital. Every falling empire gets the crazed tyrant it deserves.

Why. To my mind this is a feudal relic. A democracy can't function in my opinion with lifetime judges. They will almost always side with the wealthiest.

I'd prefer term limits and a clear message from Congress that the Supreme court has expanded its mandate far beyond any warrent. However, abortion was always waiting for the second shoe to drop. It should, after Roe v. Wade, been legalized by Congress in the 70s. You can't rely on geriatric dudes.

Most critics I think don't like that gesture. They want a lesson, a message. This movie doesn't give either, any more than The Lady Eve is a warning against confidence men. I'm guessing this will travel the same route from critically derrided to cult film that the Big Lebowski made.

I loved it, but ... it definitely was the most expensive theater of the ridiculous project ever mounted. Charles Ludlum, or Kenneth Bernard, would have loved it. Like Bernard with nuclear bombs, Inarritu takes climate catastrophe as the very condition for making a romp.

What are GOP strategists thinking? focusing on Jan. 6 2021 right as the midterms are almost upon us? seem to be There seems to be a diaper haze around the big T. They really believe pardoning traitors was a popular move. Of course, the NYT still believes in the "vibechange" too. Elites are weird.

On the other hand - maybe Oxford ain't what it is supposed to be. Isn't Oxford ground zero of the effective altruism movement - perhaps the stupidest intellectual cult since Ayn Rand went to her reward?

That is a very cute picture of Lenin! Although I am a fan, I have to admit that most pictures don't emphasize his puckishness nor how he carefully he styled his casquette.

I feel - it is just a feeling - that the majority of young white women have had enough. Still, an intersectional analysis of ideological positions would have to ask: what are these voters voting for? How does gender play out in the U.S.? This I, a cis white leftie guy, don't understand.

Feminism was and is a completely admirable program to create bonds of solidarity between women. However, between the effort and the reality fallls the shadow - and the need for work. As has often been pointed out, the majority of white women vote R. Have since LBJ. But this can change.

The only "rapists" Trump has ever opposed were the Central Park 6 - blacks kids who, as it turns out, were innocent. White failsons? This is Trump's jam! And it must be said, the 53 % of white women who voted for Trump in 2016 and 2024 know this. Sad synthesis of racism and misogyny.

Thus, you can imagine any utopia you want. We could have had a just and equatable medicare for all under Clinton. Might as well go all the way. Ending racism in this country was easy under Grant. We could have had a country without a reactionary electorate if we'd avoided the Louisiana purchase.

What I love about these retrospectives is that they imagine away all the real factors to get to their conclusion. Which, not coincidentally, is how the hawks dem and republican argued their way into occupying Iraq - just make up a war that will never be waged, ignoring the real figures in place.

Imagine Bush and his generals had not approved the Kunduz airlift of Taliban leaders to Pakistan in November 2001. Imagine the Bush administration didn't decide they needed a terrorist on tap and actually pressured Pakistan to turn over OBL. Imagine Bush not being Bush.

Such tough language between pals! But the weapons kept flowing, and the U.S. played guard so that there wasn't like international condemnation of Israel, and the unjailed man Biden's DOJ was still "investigating" for treason went on to win. A disgrace, all the way around.

I think "believe" is too cognitive a word for the erotic process between Trump and his fans. They are in love. Or heat. And the more authoritarian the persona, the more they are satisfied. Freud's notion of projection is closer to the dynamic, I think.

Implicature resists the computerization afforded by any conventional set based logic. This is the Large in Large Language Models. The way to force the computerization of implicature, it was seen in the 80s was by sheer expansion of the corpus of data. limitedinc.blogspot.com/2026/09/mr-g...

in the era of far right grifters, Weiss is a case all her own, the face of our own disgraceful Tump time. And she didn't even earn it, but had it thrust upon her by the projections of other trustfunders - while she goes on being mediocre to grossly bad.I have to salute that - its impressive.

Weiss does lead a charmed life. First, she had the Sulzbergers in her corner, and they are so heartbroke that she left the NYT that their reporting often seems a hommage to Weiss. Then, a billionaire gave her 150 million for her website, which overvalued it by 150 million. Then, CBS.

The Atlantic has, apparently, a "we only hire stupid writers" policy, competing with Bari Weiss's Free Press. Novicoff, whose name rhymes with Dumbkopf, has found a nest there.

Nothing to stay at home parents except - 6 hours of free childcare. Does Marc Novicoff know any stay at home parents? The electorate at large, via this numbskull, is just thinking: I work two jobs to put keep my household going, but I still love figuring out each day who is going to care for them.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Incumbency is a powerful thing. Being primaried can send a message - and that works well. It is the whole point of elections. Duckworth, who won her last primary with 44%, might not want to be seen working with Trump. Her choice.

No, Trump is not going to agree and he will think he won becauise he continues to do what he wants. In 2020, Trump actually did comply with the Dem majority about COVID cause he could see something in it for his own self. That Trump is long gone, and any D who can't see it will be primaried.
