Cultural studies, literature and politics, mostly. I actually like social media. I violently dislike AI, that very expensively produced virus. Trans-friendly, anti-racist, anti-capital. Every falling empire gets the crazed tyrant it deserves.

Implicature resists the computerization afforded by any conventional set based logic. This is the Large in Large Language Models. The way to force the computerization of implicature, it was seen in the 80s was by sheer expansion of the corpus of data. limitedinc.blogspot.com/2026/09/mr-g...

I understand the relic-mania of the Middle Ages, for I like relics myself. Not that I collect them – I don’t really have that collecting vibe in my life. I’m a great thrower-outer, too great in fact. I have regretted certain trips to the dumpster. #Pascal

The psychology of the relation btw Trump and his Maga base is very similar to the Epstein routine of grooming - first compliments then degradation. The AI of Jesus cleaning King Trump's shoes is about a blasphemous image as any in the western canon.

The affluence/Neolib crowd is of course in the mode of mocking Berlin for nimyism, because the Left wants to expropriate housing from its corporate owners. For a history of neolib success in driving housing costs and homelessness up, here's a good article: www.acash.org.pk/what-happene...

Following the German press freakout over Die Linke winning the German elections is hilarious. Neolibs can cozy up to neo-fascists, no problem. But the very idea of nationalizing a public good that should never have been put in private hands: it is criminal! #dielinke

Somehow, when the far right wins in Germany, it is a big news item for American media, but when the far left - Die Linke - wins by using the model of Sanders and Mamdani to capture the mayor's race in Berlin, it is crickets. #eliferalp

Trump can't ban media from the white house. But paradoxically the less embedded the media is with trump the better for the consumers of news. Access is where democracy dies. Ne hostile.

I don't at all think Bari Weiss was hired to "break" CBS news. She was hired because the little elite bubble of tech failsons and rightwing journo freaks think they have the secret sauce that gave Trump his majority in 2024. There's no secret sauce, and Trump is going out fartfirst. Sorry, Bari.

It should be easy to both oppose MAHA as a bogus carnival of fraud and corruption without presenting the pharmacological and medical institutions as shiny and good in all ways. Both are whack. The career of oxycontin was a sort of trace element that showed how bad corporate medicine is.

Trump's tariffs are batshit crazy, but they are also demonstrative of the emptiness of the neoliberal assumption that the president has his hands tied vis a vis the Fed and the economy. Turns out that the president can do quite a bit. Note to next Dem president: the neolib schtick is over.

The way the press is fluffing Rahm Emmanuel reminds me of the old Bush days when the press, especially the NYT, was all about how Chalabi was wildly propular in Iraq and would be the next pres there - and how, finally, when his party was in an election, he got 1 percent. Emmanuel is our Chalabi.

Memoir is not so much a genre as a congery of genres that include essays, autobiography, autofiction and other circus animals. Memoir is, itself, popular in the hinterlands but not so much in the academic canon, where it is difficult to locate its coordinates, its trajectoy, its landings.

Unfortunately, comparison, as the elementary student of dialectics knows, simply fossilizes the embryo idea – leaving it forever in a pre-natal state unless it is vigorously moved forward via the forceps of antithesis and inversion. Thus, the revelatory smack of Diderot's The Nephew of Rameau.

Cofnas the racist is now entering the exciting martyr market, reaching the WSJ. My previous prediction that Maher, Freepress and Quilette will follow is looking good. But he doesn't have staying power - even Nick Fuentes has more charisma than that drip. The Maga carnival is coming to a close.

I love how political concepts get floated away from material political circs in the U.S. The "left" so often ends up about opinions rather than practice - wh/ the DSA is changing.merely. "Electability" is about appeal to centrist pundits, rather than, vulgarly, being merely elected.
