Does the White House know what “exquisite” means?
“This decision will result in carriers that are enabled by battle-tested steam and hydraulic systems that are more resilient and robust than the present, more exquisite, follow-on systems,” the White House said in a statement. “It will also reactivate portions of the maritime industrial base that are easier to scale.”

Well this feels like a career-ending fuckup.
Nina Totenberg’s apology note to Sam Alito, as quoted by Brian Stelter on the bad place:

“Dear Justice Alito, there are no words to adequately apologize for today’s error in reporting your retirement. It was entirely my fault. I rushed out of the courtroom after the opinion announcements, and when I realized that the usual rush of folks after a few minutes had not happened, I asked somebody was going on inside, to which the answer was, ‘retirement announcements.’ I didn't hear the ‘s’ on ‘announcements,’ and I assumed something no reporter should ever do, that you were retiring. It was the worst professional mistake of my more than 50 years in journalism. I could go on, but I don’t know what else to say, except that I am so, so sorry.”

It’s almost like the major-questions doctrine is unprincipled bullshit.
JUSTICE GORSUCH, concurring.
The President claims that Congress delegated to him an extraordinary power in the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA)—the power to impose tariffs on practically any products he wants, from any countries he chooses, in any amounts he selects. Applying the major questions doctrine, the principal opinion rejects that argu-ment. I join in full. The Constitution lodges the Nation's lawmaking powers in Congress alone, and the major questions doctrine safeguards that assignment against executive encroachment. Under the doctrine's terms, the President must identify clear statutory authority for the extraordinary delegated power he claims. And, as the principal opinion explains, that is a standard he cannot meet.Whatever else might be said about Congress's work in
IEEPA, it did not clearly surrender to the President the sweeping tariff power he seeks to wield.
Not everyone sees it this way. Past critics of the major questions doctrine do not object to its application in this case, and they even join much of today's principal opinion.
But, they insist, they can reach the same result by employing only routine tools of statutory interpretation. Post, at 1 (KAGAN, J., joined by SOTOMAYOR and JACKSON, JJ., concurring in part and concurring in judgment). Meanwhile, one colleague who joins the principal opinion in full suggests the major questions doctrine is nothing more than routine statutory interpretation. Post, at 1 (BARRETT, J., concurring). Still others who have joined major questions decisions in the past dissent from today's application of the doctrine. Post, at 1 (KAVANAUGH, J., joined by THOMAS and ALITO, JJ., dissenting). Finally, seeking to sidestep the major questions doctrine altogether, one colleague submits that Congress may hand over to the President most of its powers, including the tariff power, without limit. Post, at 1-2 (THOMAS, J., dissenting). It is an interesting turn of events. Each camp warrants a visit.

Defendant LEMON approached an elderly woman, shoved a phone into her face, and yelled ‘You got LEMONED you old bat!’ Defendant LEMON then located a broom in the janitorial closet and put it between his legs and started prancing up and down the aisles, singing ‘You got Lemoned! You got Lemoned! Lemoned Lemoned you got Lemoned!’ before eventually tripping and taking a header into the baptismal. Defendant LEMON emerged and appeared to be crying and pointed at Victim 7 and yelled ‘she pushed me!’”

Interesting amicus brief dug up by the New York Times, filed by Pam Bondi last year.
BRIEF FOR THREE FORMER SENIOR MILITARY OFFICERS AND EXECUTIVE BRANCH OFFICIALS AS AMICI CURIAE SUPPORTING PETITIONERARGUMENT

I. The President's Broad Power as Commander in Chief Does Not Include the Authority to Order the Military to Commit Murder.
II. Military Law and an Executive Order Forbid Murder and Assassination.
A. Murder Is a Crime Under the Uniform Code of Military Justice.
B. An Executive Order Bars Assassination.
III. Military Officers Are Required Not to Carry Out Unlawful Orders.
IV. The Military Would Not Carry Out an Order to Commit Murder.III. Military Officers Are Required Not to Carry Out Unlawful Orders.
Any presidential order to the military to use lethal force without legal justification would be an order calling for the commission of a grave felony crime. And any military officers who knowingly issued or carried out such an unlawful order would themselves be criminally liable. The Rules for Courts-Martial (RCM) are promulgated by the President as Commander in Chief, and are a mechanism by which the Commander in Chief implements the UCMJ. A servicemember may assert as an affirmative defense to a crime that the servicemember was carrying out an order, but that defense is valid only if the order is lawful. See RCM 916(d).

Scott Adams: “On Monday, I will ask President Trump, via X, to help save my life. He offered to help me if I needed it. I need it. As many of you know, I have metastasized prostate cancer. My healthcare provider, Kaiser of Northern California, has approved my application to receive a newly FDA-approved drug called Pluvicto. But they have dropped the ball in scheduling the brief IV to administer it and I can't seem to fix that. I am declining fast. I will ask President Trump if he can get Kaiser of Northern California to respond and schedule it for Monday. That will give me a fighting chance to stick around on this planet a little bit longer. It is not a cure, but it does give good results to many people.“

Supreme Court Rule 8 says that when a lawyer is disbarred by a state bar, they will be suspended from practice by the Supreme Court and ordered to show cause concerning whether they should also be disbarred from the Supreme Court bar.
Rule 8. Disbarment and Disciplinary Action

1. Whenever a member of the Bar of this Court has been disbarred or suspended from practice in any court of record, or has engaged in conduct unbecoming a member of the Bar of this Court, the Court will enter an order suspending that member from practice before this Court and affording the member an opportunity to show cause, within 40 days, why a disbarment order should not be entered. Upon response, or if no response is timely filed, the Court will enter an appropriate order.

2. After reasonable notice and an opportunity to show cause why disciplinary action should not be taken, and after a hearing if material facts are in dispute, the Court may take any appropriate disciplinary action against any attorney who is admitted to practice before it for conduct unbecoming a member of the Bar or for failure to comply with these Rules or any Rule or order of the Court.

The chaos from the first day of a meeting of the federal vaccine committee appointed by Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. bled into the second day, as the panel reversed one decision and indefinitely postponed a vote on a hepatitis B vaccine they had already deferred once.

On Friday morning, the committee voted not to allow a federal vaccine program to cover the cost of a combination vaccine that protects against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella, or chickenpox. This reversed a vote on Thursday to allow coverage, apparently because some members had misunderstood the way it was worded.

And the panelists said they felt unready to decide whether to limit the use of a vaccine for hepatitis B that is typically given to all newborns. Some said they still had questions about the vaccine's safety, while others seemed relieved that the panel did not make what they saw as a rash decision that might harm children.Thursday's session ended with the panel members at odds. A hot microphone caught one panelist calling another committee member "an idiot," although it was unclear who was speaking.

Friday's session, too, at times devolved into raised voices and sharp-toned remarks. Dr. Jason Goldman, a liaison to the committee from the American College of Physicians, accused the committee's chair, Martin Kulldorff, of muting him.

"You want debate and discussion, but you're muting people and silencing them," Dr. Goldman said. "If you could respectfully tell the public how you are going to be analyzing all of these vaccine decisions, we can have confidence in this committee."

Dr. Kulldorff retorted: "You made that comment before, and I responded to that comment in a very nice and polite manner."

This is just embarrassing for the solicitor general’s office
“The stakes in this case could not be higher. The President and his Cabinet officials have determined that the tariffs are promoting peace and unprecedented economic prosperity, and that the denial of tariff authority would expose our nation to trade retaliation without effective defenses and thrust America back to the brink of economic catastrophe. C.A. Doc. 158, at 8-9 (Lutnick).

“To the President and his most senior advisors, these tariffs thus present a stark choice: With tariffs, we are a rich nation; without tariffs, we are a poor nation. According to the President, ‘[o]ne year ago, the United States was a dead country, and now, because of the trillions of dollars being paid by countries that have so badly abused us, America is a strong, financially viable, and respected country again.’ C.A. Doc. 154, at 1 (Aug. 11, 2025). The President predicts that ‘[i]f the United States were forced to pay back the trillions of dollars committed to us, America could go from strength to failure the moment such an incorrect decision took effect,’ and ‘the economic consequences would be ruinous, instead of unprecedented success.’ Id. at 1-2.

“Nonetheless, in a fractured, 7-4 decision, the en banc Federal Circuit declared that the President’s use of IEEPA tariffs was unlawful. …”

This earlier paragraph is fairly explicit (“the mutation of sexes, or transition into one another”) but uses “transexion” rather than “transfeminated”
“As for the mutation of sexes, or transition into one another, we cannot deny it in Hares, it being observable in Man. For hereof beside Empedocles or Tiresias there are not a few examples: and though very few, or rather none which have emasculated or turned women, yet very many who from an esteem or reality of being Women have infallibly proved Men. Some at the first point of their menstruous eruptions, some in the day of their marriage, others many years after: which occasioned disputes at Law, and contestations concerning a restore of the dowry. And that not only mankind, but many other Animals may suffer this transexion, we will not deny, or hold it at all impossible: although I confess by reason of the postick and backward position of the feminine part in quadrupedes, they can hardly admit the substitution of a protrusion, effectual unto masculine generation; except it be in Retromingents, and such as couple backward.”
000
Roger Allan Ford (he/him) @rogerford.org · 30/08/2025
It sounds like this is more a description of a spontaneous natural process than one that is medically induced or treated, but that’s just a sense from quick skimming.
“But surely it much impeacheth this iterated transection of Hares, if that be true which Cardan and other Physicians affirm, that Transmutation of sex is only so in opinion; and that these transfeminated persons were really men at first; although succeeding years produced the manifesto or evidence of their virilities. Which although intended and formed, was not at first excluded: and that the examples hereof have undergone no real or new transection, but were Androgynally born, and under some kind of Hermaphrodites. For though Galen do favour the opinion, that the distinctive parts of sexes are only different in Position, that is, inversion or protrusion; yet will this hardly be made out from the Anatomy of those parts. The testicles being so seated in the female, that they admit not of protrusion; and the neck of the matrix wanting those parts which are discoverable in the organs of virility.”

Roger Allan Ford (he/him) @rogerford.org · 30/08/2025
It looks obscure but it’s worth noting that the OED does have an earlier citation for the adjective form, transfeminated, which is expressly a textual reference to people.
