This is bar-tailed #godwit SEDTSYS. We saw it at Striep, Terschelling, Dutch Wadden Sea on Friday 23 May, and a day later she was cruising the Gulf of Finland on her way to the Taimyr tundra! The exodus of barwits from #WaddenSea is almost complete. See: www.globalflywaynetwork.org/tracks/speci...

WAIT A MINUTE? No way. New paper out on prey choice in the fascinating Crab Plover! We found that Crab Plovers strongly prefer feisty swimming crabs over burrow-hiding sentinel crabs. Their specialized bill enables them handle those feisty swimmers! doi.org/10.1111/eth.... @globalflyway.bsky.social

Rumex, tagged in 2022 at Schiermonnikoog (NL), decided to winter in the Tagus Estuary. As he spends most of his time at the intertidal around Sitio das Hortas, also my go-to birding spot, I've encountered him on multiple occasions in the past few weeks. @globalflyway.bsky.social #birds #ornithology
