Not an annoyance, so much as an amusement. When a period piece shows a street with cars from the 1970s, the cars are clearly pristine collectors items, whereas cars at the time were dull and rusty if they were more than a year old.

The Lovell Telescope is a listed building. I'm assuming that it would be much cheaper to maintain as a working scientific instrument than a 20th Century equivalent to a stone circle.

I like it when Doctor Who is a simple story that could be happening in the shadows near where you live. I started out with the Pertwee era, so that might shape it, but I loved Capaldi as well. The Doctors relationship with his companion should be a surrogate father-daughter/son one.

I think there is a bit of snobbishness about it. Essentially, it's working class humour. Although, to be fair, it's well past its sell-by date. The first couple of series were quite refreshing because there was nothing else like it on. Maybe that's the problem. We need new comedy?

My take on this is that it is a Grade I listed building, so if you close it as a scientific site, it would move to the heritage budget. It's a bit like the Forth Bridge: far better as functional engineering than a pretty relic.
