Part Two of Doctor Who's Seeds Of Doom was broadcast this day in 1976. I remember it well. We watched it at my birthday party! It's a bit of a classic, so it seems like a good idea to watch it for my birthday this year.

I visited the site of the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp last week. There is little of the original site left other than the mass graves looming over memorials. It may have been the ambient noise on a quiet day, but the whole place felt haunted. Will we ever learn from the past?

I'm sad to hear that the actress Jean Marsh has died aged 90. She is probably best known for Upstairs Downstairs, but I watched her in the reconstruction of The Dalek Master Plan a few years ago. She is here with Peter Purves, arguably the most handsome companions that Doctor Who has had?

That's my birthday present! I've just watched "Planet Of Giants". It's odd for a 1964 episode in that I couldn't really fault the effects, but they didn't really make much of the story, inspired by Rachel Carson's Silent Spring. Interesting to see them play with dimensions, though.

Cannonier was the ballboy during Liverpool's 4-0 victory at Anfield on 07.05.2019, whose quick return of the ball to Trent Alexander-Arnold allowed for a quickly taken corner that resulted in the winning goal.

In the Doctor Who episode, "The Halloween Apocalypse", the time travelling Doctor quipped that she had been at the match several times, once as the ballboy, indicating that Oakley Cannonier is a previously unknown incarnation of The Doctor in the fictional Doctor Who universe.

In terms of cost, I saw this 1968 colour TV at the Bremen Rundfunkmuseum (broadcasting museum) that originally retailed for 5050DM (2590€ or £2150 at today's exchange rate). I'm not sure how that adjusts for inflation, but that was 7 months gross income for the average German at the time.

A rare night at the cinema for me tonight. Metropolis with a live pianist. I'd seen this on DVD with the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra soundtrack, but there is something very intimate about a silent film with a live performer. The film is still a technical marvel even at nearly 100 years old.
