More than 1,000 years ago, Maya dental specialists drilled precise cavities into teeth and fitted them with jade, turquoise and other stones. Plant-based cements secured the inlays, some of which remain intact today—a remarkable blend of craftsmanship, botanical knowledge and ancient dentistry.

John Coltrane Quartet :: Ballads (1963) aquariumdrunkard.com/2026/06/19/j... The central mystery of Ballads is how an album of standards, recorded during one of the most radical periods in jazz history, feels every bit as profound as Coltrane’s more adventurous work. Midnite jazz column returns.

This event is about celebrating America’s unmatched greatness after 250 years — which apparently doesn’t sit well with the friendless loser who wrote this bullshit clickbait headline.

Rain or shine, we’re celebrating our great country no matter what. GOD BLESS AMERICA! 🇺🇸

🥗 British sea-weeds London: L. Reeve, 1867. [Source]
Illustration from 1867 titled "British sea-weeds," showing detailed, colored depictions of two types of green algae with broad, ruffled, and serrated fronds attached to small, root-like holdfasts. Each algae has a thick, dark central midrib supporting the textured leaf-like blades. The artwork includes two smaller, detailed insets of cellular structure, emphasizing scientific observation. The style is botanical and naturalistic, typical of 19th-century marine algae studies.

Buried prone in 1550 by Catholic Church to erase memory, the #Aztec #SunStone survived 200 years underground & later, bullet strikes from USA soldiers using it as target practice. This 1886 #Photography shows it on the Cathedral wall before its final home. #Resilience that refused to be forgotten.
A vintage 1886 black and white photograph from the New York State Archives showing the massive Aztec Sun Stone mounted on the exterior wall of the Mexico City Metropolitan Cathedral. The stone, carved in intricate basalt detail, stands as a testament to Mexican history and endurance despite centuries of burial and damage.
