I did get one other birthday gift for Shawna. Several months before her birthday, she called out that Zelda and her Age of Calamity Master Cycle would make an incredible Akira-style poster. I took notes and then quietly commissioned the incredible @lokyu.bsky.social to create it. It came out well!

When you have to contain a cosmic horror and/or release one using really big lock-picks. Destiny 2 Red Bull can for scale. * The lock/lock-picks were not made by me, but by an incredible coworker.

A big chest is wrapped by a giant chain and locked with a comically large lock. The lock has “ADEPT 7” engraved on it. In front of the chest are 3 correspondingly large lock-picks. On top of the chest is an empty Destiny 2 Red Bull can.

In keeping with the general themes of our marriage, yesterday Shawna and I celebrated our 20 year anniversary by walking about 14 miles of coastline. I feel so so so incredibly lucky to be married to such an incredible partner in adventure!

Azul is an amazing travel game. Just get a 1-gallon ziplock bag, and the boards, rules, and disks, all fit into it perfectly, with no need for the big box!

We've been watching the ancient anime "Dear Brother" with some friends, and so for Valentines Day I made them all cards. (1/3)

Today I’m out on the water celebrating 19 years married to the wildly talented captain/Technical Program Manager/artist/sword fighter Shawna Williams. The last 19 years have been packed with crazy adventures and wonderful cozy moments, and I’m looking forwards to many more.

I’m taking some time off from work to do volunteer work this week!

A 45 foot wooden mast, weathered and faded. It has just been pulled and inspected by the Coast Guard.

Here I’m “wooding” the masts with a circular sander with a HEPA vacuum attached. You can see the natural color of the wood under the old sun-faded color.

Putting on the first layer of spar varnish. The 1st layer is 50/50 thinned with paint thinner to let it soak deep into the wood. It also makes the mast glow!

With 2 more layers of varnish, the masts are starting to take on a beautiful redish shine. Ultimately we will need between 5-7 layers to protect the masts from sun and weather.

After years of research I believe I've been able to prove that P does not equal NP. Pete was played by Danny Tamberelli, while 'N Pete was played by Michael C. Maronna. Furthermore the characters were different ages, with very different personalities. I await my check from the Millennium Prize!

This weekend I finally (finally!!!) managed to complete a game of Twilight Imperium. I got together with some awesome folks from work and duked it out in space. I didn’t win, but made some amazing plays I was really happy with. The game is delightfully absurdly A Lot.
