![It is located at 1,908 meters, along the road that climbs from Chiavenna towards the Spluga Pass, which is only 3 km away. After the Second World War, the road crossing the Spluga Pass was closed,[3] and the village (consisting of three main roads, Via Dogana, Via Ferrè, and Via Val Loga) is no longer accessible by vehicle through the pass.
It has retained its original appearance, with a few houses around the road and the old customs building known as La Casa. It occupies the plain at the confluence of the Spluga Valley with the Loga Valley, rich in water and pastures, overlooking the border peaks of the area and, since the 1930s, the northern shore of the artificial lake of the same name.
It is the starting point for numerous hiking, mountaineering and ski mountaineering destinations in the surrounding mountains, and a transit point along the cross-border route of the Via Spluga.](https://cdn.bsky.app/img/feed_thumbnail/plain/did:plc:xl54bckekgfc6t2cr5aqse56/bafkreihmqf2ibetozuzgcci4qk3nitjqiwisfkdb2zm6j2snl35tf2qd4i)
