The wonderful roof of Langley Chapel, #Shropshire, completed in 1601. In the 16th C the chapel was built for the Burnell family, probably replacing one built in the 1300s. It's a little rectangular building standing alone in a field. Last used in the 19th C, it escaped restorers. #church #medieval

I've just learned that the ancient yew in the churchyard at Llangernyw in North Wales may be one of the oldest living things IN THE WORLD. The last time I posted one of my pictures of it, I said it was the oldest living thing in #Wales. Apparently, it may be up to 4,000 years old! #ThickTrunkTuesday

One of the most fascinating 19th Century accounts of a haunting is that of the HMS Asp, which found itself possessed of a mysterious phantom woman, and other phenomena, from 1850-7. Its skipper, Capt Alldridge, RN, recorded his own and his crew's terrifying experiences in 1867. [Cont: #SpookySunday
