Midwesterner. Skeptical, particularly of "economic anxiety." Trying to stay open-minded but generally, they are who we thought they were. Michigan fan. Dems need to reckon w fact Trump won 48% of Latino voters. Very disrespectful to Beck.

This is a fail in three parts: - The particular butter he shows is ~$2.50/stick - Ingraham shops at high end stores (if *she* shops at all) and pays $4/stick - Bluesky is bougie about food & apparently doesn't realize most American shop at Kroger, Aldi, etc where a stick is absolutely a buck
Butter at Kroger for $2.99 for 4 sticks in Ypsilanti, MI.

Right. How did Bush get elected the first time? Did that have any impact on him being re-elected in 2004? It is very hard to beat an incumbent in American politics. You basically have to conduct an insurrection & worsen a pandemic and kill thousands. Even then, you can come back.

A new restaurant named "Vinny's" opened, after a long gestation period, across from EMU in Ypsi. I don't think this is going to work unless the food is awesome. Those prices are for a different part of town (maybe), not down the street from the Water Tower. #emu imgur.com/wr1tnBP

But it surely had a small impact on others, and of course, that election was razor close. And now we have Sam Alito, and have for over 20 years. That's probably fine.

...and this shit mattered. I was "of an impressionable age" in at that time, and the fact so many bands with a social conscience were against Bush *and* Gore made me seriously consider voting for Nader for awhile. Then I looked at their platforms and realized, "These two aren't the same at all!"

That's fair. More accurate to say "Not different enough that it matters" As always, though, I will link to his band with one of the dumbest, wrongest videos of all-time; it explicitly said Bush & Gore were the same. That was wrong! He should admit it! He doesn't! www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q3dv...

Good interview. I love Tom's guitar playing (though not his singing -- he just doesn't have a good voice), and admire his passion, but he remains the dumbest smart guy in rock. "I think we're aligned on all the matter that count, you know?" No, I don't know. Been a fool since 2000.

Unless things improve dramatically (except for the defense -- they've been good), there is going to be a lot of staff turnover this off season, and Whittingham will be on the hot seat, as he'll be coming off a 6-6 / 7-5 season. Life in the big leagues!

And Combs on special teams. Marsha muffs that ball, again. Yet he gets more chances! Must be bc he's so dynamic. He gets a punt in the 4th w 10 yards of free space, at the 15 yd line, and proceeds to run right into coverage for a short return. Next return? Let's a ball bounce, and gives up 20 yards

That was pathetic from Michigan & the blame starts with the coaches. We heard all off-season how Underwood is best from outside the pocket/on the move; then the first few games proved that. The last few "drives" today were all pocket passes, like he's Tom Brady. Put players in a position to succeed

Michigan’s RBs don’t have much to work with, but they also rarely make someone miss. What a regression by this offense.

One good thing about being on FOX: the sheer tonnage of commercials gives the Michigan defense a breather. Because the offense sure isn’t.

Rob Pollard @robpollard45.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
He’s low on the list of problems. The run game is atrocious. I am shocked how mediocre (being kind) that it is. Bryce is their biggest running threat. That shouldn’t be.

Rob Pollard @robpollard45.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
Kerry Combs is on borrowed time. At least one major special teams fuck up a week doesn’t cut it. Marsh shouldn’t be back there the rest of the season. We will see what happens.

Rob Pollard @robpollard45.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
I do not understand Michigan’s playcalling at all. First down, your offense has been off the field all quarter, establish some sort of run to try to get positive yards and run some clock. Instead, you get an unsure pass play, where Underwood seems inclined to eat it. The drive is wasted.

I live in Metro Detroit. Even if you include the AATA in AA2/Ypsi, we have the worst mass transit in the US. People talk about expanding the pathetic People Mover, but no one is serious about it. The price comes up and everyone says, "Nope!" We can rebuild a grand train station, but not any trains.

The poll that has Benson ahead by 12, and Abdul ahead by 7? In a D +9 environment? Yes, I am aware. My point is that Abdul is underperforming the baseline, and Rs ad campaign strategy is a likely reason for reasons specific to this state & race. He is still likely to win, just by a smaller margin.
100
Rob Pollard @robpollard45.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
I wish that were the case. But Fox (who, surprisingly, does good polling considering their awful "news") had one yesterday that had them tied. In most, he's up 3-4% (in margin of error). Regardless, Adbul was up 10+% in polls in the primary; he won by 1%. Hopefully Abdul will win, but It is close.

It makes sense it's not working in Texas, Iowa, etc. But I'm seeing a megaton of ads featuring him in Michigan, incl him campaigning w Abdul. And Rogers is tied w Abdul in a D +10 enviro. So it seems to be working in MI (as it fits w the racism of Rogers' campaign about Abdul's "dangerousness")

That might be true some places, but doesn’t explain Michigan. Benson has been SOS for eight years and is closely attached to Whitmer—she’s up by 9. Abdul has never held elective office. He’s in a tight race.
