Many years ago I built an application that used an algorithm to display popular links to users. The net result was unpopular content was never viewed by users thereby reinforcing the algorithm’s recommendations. So yeah, algorithmic feeds are a bad idea. youtu.be/9Ff4S1FJdRM

I feel like when people say “AI will kill is all” what they are in reality saying is “AI will convince dumb people to kill us all” For example, look at RFK Jr saying that AI knows more about medicine than experts. That’s the on-ramp to global catastrophe.

Hey Gav, dunno if you’re a podcast guy, but “Top Comment” and “The Rest is Entertainment” often cover the socials and how the algorithms work. I gather YouTube recently changed the algorithm to favour smaller channels so things might start looking up.
