I don't care if you do include a head swap based on the deleted ending, NECA. This "Ultimate Figure" will never be complete without a Busta Rhymes figure to accompany it. #iykyk #halloweenresurrection

Remember when the Joker became an Iranian Ambassador in Death of the Family so he could gain diplomatic immunity after killing Jason Todd? Well, here's #markhamill 's version of that moment- from 1996's Legend of Robin audio drama!

I do find it kind of hilarious how Linkara described a sad image of someone make copies of Doom's IV during his review, and then in a weird way, I became that person. The Force Works ashcan has B/W coloring, but the Doom's IV book has a lot more behind the scenes material and fully colored heroes.

Made a pair of custom ashcans of 90s books so I could have a physical reference for my own preview books: specifically Force Works and Doom's IV #1/2. I know ashcans are sometimes old hat, but I feel it really goes help me develop my craft and short story skills- like Kyle Higgins suggested.

Who in their right minds at Marvel thought that Spider-Man One More Day needed a hardcover treasury edition? In the 2020s, no less?!

What’s the cover art that got you started in the TTRPG hobby? Here’s mine:

Hot damn! You mean once this book comes out and I'm in my late 40s, I'll finally be able to Create Comics the Marvel Way?! Yeah... I think I'll stick with my copies of Scott McCloud and Denny O'Neil's guides to making/writing comics.

No Trickster/Pied Piper, no Monarch/Forerunner building an army, no Superman Prime killing people, no Kyle Rayner, no Morticoccus Virus killing Earth 51, no Duela Dent or Monitor Bob, no scenes of the Monitors doing nothing, and no references to Amazons Attack. Darkseid still sits on a couch, tho.

Rare to see a boxed Jaguar out in the wild, but seeing the Bootleg Garfield plush that @phelous.bsky.social reviewed was an even more hilarious find.

Recently finished listening to 52's adaptation by Graphic Audio, now moving on to Countdown- one of the most infamous messes in the history of DC Comics. I already know it's less bad because it cuts certain things out like in 52, but how much did Greg Cox improve the book? That's what I wanna know.

Yes, all of the episodes are still LISTED on their website, but I don't see a pricetag or any option to access/download the full files. You'd think they could make a fair bit of cash by bundling them together into a full "2000 A.D. Mega Collection" that lasts as long as your average Turtledove book.

Really cheesed off to see the excellent Judge Dredd #2000AD audio series by #bigfinish vanish off the face of the earth from Internet Archive. Unless the rights holders are planning to RE-RELEASE them in a more convenient and accessible format (ie: Audible), then it's essentially digital erasure.

Also met up with Mervyn McKoy of Paper Lab Studios (who does great concept art), Chris Sprouse (Artist on Moore's much-celebrated Supreme run), and fellow TTRPG gamer Tini Howard (who signed my Marvel Civil War RPG book, since it's apparently her favorite as well!). All awesome, funny, and helpful!💯

Just got back from #galaxyconrichmond, where I celebrated my 27th birthday with a ton of cool creators! 😎They were very open to conversation, inspiring, and supportive of new talents who came to them! From left to right, @kevinmaguire.bsky.social, @jimshooter.bsky.social, and Christopher J. Priest!

Green Lantern: Sleepers in particular rankles me because I absolutely LOVE what Priest and his cowriters did with the characters in this trilogy! 💯 Everyone has tons of personality- from supers like Hal, Star Sapphire, Jade, and Alan Scott, to "minor" characters like Irene Miller or Albert Dekker.

It's kind of absurd how hard it is to get ahold of the #dccomics Graphic Audio Dramas compared to Marvel. I can find Days of Future Past and Planet Hulk easily on Audible, but great stuff like No Man's Land, 52, and Green Lantern: Sleepers? I have to buy a Google Drive link from a 3rd party website.

Just listened to Graphic Audio's version of Batman: No Man's Land, adapted by @gregrucka.com and #dccomics. It's a really well-written and voice-acted two-parter, though that also means the combined story is eleven hours. "A Movie in Your Mind", my ass- this was like binging an entire TV season!

Found this obscure pic of Jack Kirby's Female Furies by John K Snyder III. Been working on a pitch for a miniseries featuring Darkseid and Granny Goodness' shock troops, and this piece really captures the vibe I was going for: a fearsome five-woman force of nature forged by the fires of Apokolips.

Shoutout to Jon M Wilson's coverage of the Image/Valiant crossover Deathmate on his "All the Pouches" podcast for starting me on this cross-company outing (and finally getting me to pull that Unity boxset off the damn shelf!).

Prepping to do some heavy writing during an upcoming vacation, so I'm changing the water in my reference pool with some fresh books. I'll be visiting WildStorm with Jim Lee/Brandon Choi's Stormwatch and Gen¹³, then Valiant Comics with Solar and their acclaimed Unity crossover. #imagecomics

I'll admit that early Image wasn't perfect, and I eventually found much better books in college as I went on (Justice League International, Icon, Suicide Squad, Exiles, etc.), but without the impact of those initial books, I probably wouldn't be as creative or invested in the industry as I am today.

It's kind of funny how my attachment to those books started from my enjoyment of @linkara.bsky.social 's reviews of Youngblood and other Image books... but then after buying up runs of them for cheap on eBay during the 2010s, I was engrossed in the plots they were telling and the talent on display.

Been listening to both the All the Pouches and Spawnometer podcasts during work, and hearing all those early Image books I read in high school (Team Youngblood, Bloodstrike, Supreme, Shadowhawk) seen through fresh eyes has reawakened my love of the '90s' electric nature.

What about modding a CRT TV in the corner so you can play all those VHS games from the 90s, like Nightmare or Dragonstrike? We can finally bring hyperReality into VIRTUAL Reality!

I'm still curious whether we'll learn what exactly Icon's powers are in this reboot. I get that he now has telekinesis in addition to the flying brick powers and laser vision, but also some vague Darwin-esque evolution abilities? Does the series bible explain that at all for new writers?

I would be remiss not to thank my penciller/inker Nick Justus, and colorist Nathan Lawson, for helping to bring this weird world to life. No matter how good of an idea they have on paper, a writer should always enjoy seeing an artist bring the final result to life in ways they never saw coming.

Then years later when 2024 rolled around, it wound up playing a part in inspiring my pitch for Surprisal of the Fittest- along with Fox's Sliders, Disney's Dinosaurs, and a brief test run of the setting I built in a campaign using Palladium's Transdimensional TMNT book.

It's funny how my relationship with the 1993 Super Mario Movie has evolved- I used to think it was just a weird oddity that sucked on toast, but the movie actually becomes a lot more enjoyable if you just stop hoping it'll be a Mario movie and treat it like a weird alternate universe flick.

Of course, the quality of the audio play really brings to mind how much raw vocal talent of the show really had- with Michael Haley as Maxx, Glynnis Talken Campbell as Julie Winters, and Barry Stigler as Mr. Gone giving excellent performances for such a bizarre, heartrending, and awesome series.

Listened to "Maximum Sound", an audio adaptation of The Maxx #1-3, at work yesterday. Brought my mind back to the Maxx MTV animated series, especially since the producer admitted Sam Keith showed it to them as they were laying down the groundwork for the mood and voicework.

Just an idea of some of the books and series I've been poring over for ideas: -Vampire the Masquerade Clanbooks -DVDs of Christopher Lee Dracula films -Morbius' 90s comic series -Forever Knight (1992) -Tokyo Ghoul -GURPS Blood Types -Blade (obviously) Any other recommendations I should check out?

Just realized that at one point I had three copies of Days of Future Past- one of which I gave to my nephew for Christmas. Whenever I see one of these lil books for sale on the cheap, I snap 'em up so I can use them as player handouts for the "Nightmares of Future Past" campaign I'm planning.

Damn, this redesign for Triton I stumbled across on the Marvel Wiki goes HARD. Gives me 2007 Bionicle or Ratchet & Clank vibes. Marvel seemed to have slept on John Timms' work, so I'm glad he's been getting plenty of exclusive work at DC. www.johntimmsart.com

I hope that Doom 2099 gets a rerelease beyond the Warren Ellis collection- specifically the John Francis Moore/Pat Broderick run- now that Doom '99 is in Marvel Rivals. Doom's quest to reclaim Latveria and explore this strange future world really did turn the character on his head back in the 90s.

Rereading Doom 2099 and this panel from #15 still gives me chills every time I read it. The fact that the megacorp-run world of 2099 has somehow been abandoned by alien powers really captures the essence of classic 2099's mysterious isolation from the greater Marvel Universe.

Another positive to having no heat in the house- whenever I boot up Skyrim VR, it adds another layer of immersion! Actually makes me think about how Holodecks in stuff like Star Trek handles the atmosphere of harsh environments like deserts or jungles. Little dehumidifiers and really strong ACs?

The campaign book by Margaret Weis Productions is a great supplement with fascinating options for players, and it's something that I wish Marvel themselves would consider studying for their own RPG. Giving players a chance to reroll their famous books would probably drive up resales of those events.

Been running a tabletop RPG campaign based on Marvel's Civil War event using Mutants and Masterminds... and the sheer amount of continuity and tie-ins I decided to research has been ballooning my collection out of control. Though it's also introduced me to some GREAT stuff like Bendis' Alias run.

As someone whose only exposure to Judge Dredd was the two movies, the audio dramas have been an explosively entertaining crash-course to @2000ad.bsky.social . I wish the BBC1 and Big Finish series were more widely available, especially since Toby Longworth is, bar none, THE perfect voice for Dredd.

Ever since I started working in prefab construction, I've been relying on audiobooks/dramas to get me through work- keeps my brain stimulated while my hands and eyes concentrate on bolting steel together. Just finished the SW Dark Empire drama, moving onto Starcraft Ghost: Spectres. Good stuff.
