Gromit finally gets a voice … and it’s Martin Freeman
After 37 years, the staunchly silent dog will speak for the first time in the audiobook of his autobiography – and it turns out he sounds like a hobbit

Saw Digger last night. It's a shame so many people are talking about how much money it's going to do lose and not how repellent and stupid the movie actually is instead.

Manhunter just got a 4K release for its 40th birthday. Its dreamy neon and synths are the peak of the 80s aesthetic. avchamber.substack.com/p/19-manhunt...

#19: Manhunter just turned 40. Is it the peak of ‘80s cinema?
Michael Mann’s dreamlike serial killer flick is a sensual marriage of neon lighting, synthesisers and retro technology. It must be experienced on the big screen.

Watching an NBA halftime show where they invited a dozen fans to try and score a basket from half court, only for them all to fail miserably. Then the mascot steps up and gets it first time, in a full-length hornet costume.

Few sporting spectacles are simultaneously as fun and as drama-filled as the NBA, which is about to start again. Here's a beginner guide to the rules, the quirks, the players and everything else to watch out for: avchamber.substack.com/p/18-a-begin...

#18: A Beginner’s Guide to why the NBA rules
Basketball is the sport that might be more exciting - and weirder than football. With the new NBA season three weeks away, this is what to watch out for and why you should give it a go.

Six nights at Knebworth - Oasis are as big as they've ever been, and they may also be the most hated band in the country. Why is that? Plus: Glass Eel in the new band slot: avchamber.substack.com/p/17-how-did...

#17: How did Oasis become the most divisive band in Britain?
They used to be the band that united everyone, nowadays their legacy divides opinion while they shift more tickets than ever. Plus, Glass Eel in the New Band slot.

On the bright side, think how much worse it would be if the match was being played later than 12.30pm.

The destruction of the World Trade Center stole one of cinema’s most identifiable landmarks, New York is still dealing with the legacy of that today.

You've got these huge landscapes dwarfing abstract, mostly faceless figures, depicted in washes and smears of dampened colour. It's very ghostly! Not eerie, more like you're seeing traces of past existences.

right, ok, enough self-pity, I need to turn my shit pub around. it's in Stratford, it's got a (small) stage, there has to be someone who has something cool they want a space for queer-run, extremely diverse venue (we even let mumbling old white geezers in) what I'd call 'mostly accessible'

Watching No Hard Feelings and it's such a bizarrely 2022 movie. Like a cinematic time capsule. A sex comedy with COVID-era online politics, a 70s rock soundtrack for some reason and a lead that looks like a haunted doll.
