Rob Krupicka @robkrupicka.bsky.social · 26/09/2026I went and saw Haught & Freddy at 9:30 club last night. It is like Eddy Mercury, Rocky Horror, Chappell Roan, Florence and the Machine were all rolled into something completely new. Fun and irreverent. A celebration of being weird! 140
Rob Krupicka @robkrupicka.bsky.social · 26/09/2026Public policy is not fully grasping the enormous data issues that are emerging. There should be a committee focused on this in Richmond and tracking it all, reviewing legislation. 050
Rob Krupicka @robkrupicka.bsky.social · 26/09/2026Yes, this is my point about needing judicial oversight. 200
Rob Krupicka @robkrupicka.bsky.social · 26/09/2026We definitely need to curate our own list. Mobland. Margo’s Got Money Problems. 020
Rob Krupicka @robkrupicka.bsky.social · 26/09/2026Yes, AI makes all privacy issues scary. Private companies are able to create profiles on us that could be used or sold to other people in a lot of different ways. I think that is a huge thing to worry about. 011
Rob Krupicka @robkrupicka.bsky.social · 26/09/2026I hear this. You don’t mind the speed cameras tracking where you go, the issue is trusting law enforcement with all this data, which is legit. 410
Rob Krupicka @robkrupicka.bsky.social · 26/09/2026Other data at least requires a court order (or should). With AI we should want even more oversight of how all of our data is reviewed public or private. 000
Rob Krupicka @robkrupicka.bsky.social · 26/09/2026Yes…and we write about our politics here in BS and on other social media. I think this is less about privacy and more about not trusting law enforcement to not use this data in bad ways (which is legit). 100
Rob Krupicka @robkrupicka.bsky.social · 26/09/2026Yes, private companies are doing a lot to mess with our privacy. I’m on board with wanting controls there. What I want goes way beyond cameras. I don’t really care if I get filmed going someplace. But I do worry about how AI uses all my data to profile me. 220
Rob Krupicka @robkrupicka.bsky.social · 26/09/2026So you are choosing to not use credit cards, the banking system, avoiding stores with cameras? 100
Rob Krupicka @robkrupicka.bsky.social · 26/09/2026But I agree the trade offs are important to weigh. Data privacy is going to be a bigger and bigger issue as technology advances. There are so many ways our data can be used and is being used. 010
Rob Krupicka @robkrupicka.bsky.social · 26/09/2026I know cameras were helpful when we saw a spike in retail theft a few years ago. And cameras seems to have a deterrent effect in some areas. I don’t think all cameras are bad and I don’t think the only question is solving crimes, though I agree that is an important metric as is Deterrence. 200
Rob Krupicka @robkrupicka.bsky.social · 26/09/2026And the Feds can seize your credit card, online, and other data. The data of me going to target exists in multiple places. 100
Rob Krupicka @robkrupicka.bsky.social · 25/09/20263) require strict privacy controls and data elimination requirements for all data collected, 4) create an enforcement mechanism to punish people that violate the data privacy rules, 5) require annual reports on camera usage, results, issues, etc. 020
Rob Krupicka @robkrupicka.bsky.social · 25/09/2026I don’t think we are far apart. My draft wish list is this: 1) End FLOCK contract, 2) seek legislative authority to require judicial oversight over camera use in a community, 2) require all camera locations to be reviewed/approved by a citizen-led group (police review board?) 210
Rob Krupicka @robkrupicka.bsky.social · 25/09/2026I don’t support a ban. We live in a time where everything we do is tracked. But I do support a need for judicial oversight as well as commmunity input into locations. I think cameras, done well, support safety. I agree we are not doing them well right now. I think the City Council gets that. 210
Rob Krupicka @robkrupicka.bsky.social · 25/09/2026I don’t understand why we are not talking more about the need for judicial review/intervention before law enforcement uses camera data. 3121
Rob Krupicka @robkrupicka.bsky.social · 19/09/2026While everybody is focused on the cameras, I just want to remind you that we are all being watched every second we are online, every transaction we make, every time we use a credit card. The cameras watching our cars are just the tip of the iceberg, but they are not the most insidious threat. 051
Rob Krupicka @robkrupicka.bsky.social · 17/09/2026It is time for us to roll out some new constitutional amendments. Big Money in politics, Supreme Court and Executive ethics protections, pardon power reform, Independence of the Fed, end gerrymandering… 010
Rob Krupicka @robkrupicka.bsky.social · 16/09/2026With the staggering increases in gas prices that have happened and will happen, we have reached the point where it is imperative that employers implement work from home policies and communities focus on transit, walking and biking as necessities for national economic stability. 0142
Rob Krupicka @robkrupicka.bsky.social · 15/09/2026As oil prices sky rocket, and oil execs make huge margins, I wonder if any of the macho petroleum lovers are second guessing not having a faster and more sophisticated electric car. 020

Rob Krupicka @robkrupicka.bsky.social · 09/09/2026You would think any tech where its own employees think there is a 10% chance it will destroy humanity in a decade or less would get a lot of regulatory scrutiny. Rob Krupicka @robkrupicka.bsky.social · 06/09/2026And sure, I think people should be able to make the choice that works for them. But childcare is for people who have no choice but to work. What do we accomplish by taking that away? Do they think this will force single women to get married? 010
Rob Krupicka @robkrupicka.bsky.social · 06/09/2026It is quaint to want the economy to allow a parent to stay home. Last time that was possible taxes were a lot higher and higher ed cost a lot less. 110

Rob Krupicka @robkrupicka.bsky.social · 06/09/2026How does not avoid trapping people in unhealthy or dangerous marriages? 110
Rob Krupicka @robkrupicka.bsky.social · 06/09/2026Let me get this straight… instead of providing childcare subsidies for people who have to work, especially single people, we are going to pay people who choose to stay home and take care of their kids while their spouse works, but they have to be married for this to happen? 120
Rob Krupicka @robkrupicka.bsky.social · 04/09/2026Isn’t it sad how some people think capitalism means making government and life hard so rich people can do better and are perfectly ok with that. So many people scared of what happens if the economy supports them. 010

Rob Krupicka @robkrupicka.bsky.social · 07/08/2026I had coffee with the chair of Agenda Alexandria yesterday.
