Robert Kibble @handle.invalid · 29/09/2026Always hear the argument for "First Past the Post" electoral system as being "it leads to strong stable government". [Looks at the last decade in the UK] Got any other arguments...? 011
Robert Kibble @handle.invalid · 24/09/2026Bonus museum - the Little Paris Museum in Bucharest. Includes a very rare pre-war Romanian passport the Russians post-war tried to collect to destroy because the text says valid everywhere except Russia. 020
Robert Kibble @handle.invalid · 22/09/2026Today I found out that @in-otter-news.bsky.social is on here, and truly I am otterly content. 000
Robert Kibble @handle.invalid · 22/09/2026Corporate motivational toss. In over eight words, foolishly. 000
Robert Kibble @handle.invalid · 21/09/2026Every time I go through the non-EU passports it makes me sad. We had that. :-( 020
Robert Kibble @handle.invalid · 20/09/2026Tomorrow I'll be flying to Romania. Bucharest? No, I'm going for work. *tap tap* Is this thing on? Tough crowd. 240
Robert Kibble @handle.invalid · 20/09/2026As part of my Every Museum In London project (early days, this is number two) went to the Soho Museum, which is a very small volunteer-run museum taking part in the Open House Festival in London, which had a two room exhibition on the West End at War. With a broom-based bomb remover... 011
Robert Kibble @handle.invalid · 19/09/2026Tottenham Court Road, ever captivating with their giant screens. 000
Robert Kibble @handle.invalid · 16/09/2026What new madness is this? A socket in a sofa? Pleasing alliteration but why? So if you move the sofa it gets stuck and someone shouts that it's plugged in? If you can plug into the sofa surely just plug into what the sofa's plugged into? I do not approve. Someone somewhere designed this. 110
Robert Kibble @handle.invalid · 11/09/2026Pleasingly I was on BBC Upload yesterday with a rant of mine. #WAMTM www.philosophicalleopard.com/wamtm/2026/8... Robert Kibble @handle.invalid · 10/09/2026rnli.org/about-us/our...rnli.orgWhy does the RNLI launch to small boats in the English Channel?RNLI lifeboat crews have always launched to the rescue without judgement or preference. Men, women and children in danger in the Channel are no exception. 000
Robert Kibble @handle.invalid · 10/09/2026The RNLI are volunteers committed to saving lives without discrimination, because people drowning is bad. This does not seem controversial. And yet there are people who hate migrants so much, they will attack those volunteers. If you do that "to defend British values", you've already lost. 000
Robert Kibble @handle.invalid · 07/09/2026Just finished "No Friend To This House" by Natalie Haynes. Extremely powerful retelling of the myths around Jason and the Argonauts, and a book I felt she must have enjoyed writing, given how much I enjoyed reading it. Highly recommended. 010
Robert Kibble @handle.invalid · 04/09/2026I've just heard someone point out that "mark as read" has two meanings, and they are opposites of each other, depending on how you pronounce it. I am now deeply troubled. In fairness it doesn't take much. 000
Robert Kibble @handle.invalid · 01/09/2026Since it's so common now for people to say "the interwebs" I'm going to go the other way to balance. I'm speaking to you over the World Wide Net. 041
Robert Kibble @handle.invalid · 31/08/2026Just off Tottenham Court Road is an unexpected little garden, with an unexpected little friend. Phoenix Garden. Lovely little place to pause. 010
Robert Kibble @handle.invalid · 31/08/2026...and for what it's worth, Islands in the Stream? Really? Does that make any sense? robertkibble.blogspot.com/2018/01/wamt...robertkibble.blogspot.com 000
Robert Kibble @handle.invalid · 31/08/2026Dolly Parton dying the other week was odd. I just realised that I wrote two rants about her songs (both songs I love - the rants are touch in cheek, e.g. robertkibble.blogspot.com/2018/01/wamt...), and one short story: www.philosophicalleopard.com/jolene/ She clearly had an impact on me.philosophicalleopard.comJolene — Philosophical Leopard 010
Robert Kibble @handle.invalid · 28/08/2026You know one of my ambitions in life, which I doubt I'll ever achieve? To go to an airport and see flights, in order, to "London, New York, Paris, Munich" and then turn to the person next to me and say "Let's talk about pop music." Yes, it might be niche. But yes it would make me happy. 000
Robert Kibble @handle.invalid · 26/08/2026I do find this kind of thing very pleasing. Someone went to some effort. I know nothing about the company or its ethics, but at least someone made a broccoli tree in front of a loaf hill on the side of a delivery truck and slightly brightened my day. 240
Robert Kibble @handle.invalid · 25/08/2026Ah, that joyous moment on the way to work: I can't feel my phone in my pocket, did I even remember it, did someone sneak up (no one came even close on the way to the station) [begins patting down pockets with hand which has phone in it] oh no, I've... Of course the station guard was watching. 010
Robert Kibble @handle.invalid · 22/08/2026And by way of introduction, here are my two cats. Pepper (L, mother) and Coco (R, daughter). Black cats (mostly, in Coco's case) are allegedly less popular because they don't look good on social media. I disagree. 150
Robert Kibble @handle.invalid · 22/08/2026I DMd a session of Call of Cthulhu last night. First time in over 30 years. Feels like as I get closer to retirement I'm regressing - I'm remembering the things I found fun when I was young and putting more effort into them. 230
Robert Kibble @handle.invalid · 14/08/2026One of the nicest things in London is the big room opposite Tottenham Court Road station with a weird thing on massive screens. This week it was a giant Tetris played by the observers, and then a weird Japanese garden with giant fish - it's just always worth stopping to watch. Free public art. 040
Robert Kibble @handle.invalid · 13/08/2026I was on the radio on BBC Upload again this evening. Complaining about heat. And the stairs at Maidenhead station. Robert Kibble @handle.invalid · 12/08/2026People seem tremendously excited by the prospect of the sun becoming darker for a bit. It's as if they've not experienced what I call "curtain" technology. 020
Robert Kibble @handle.invalid · 08/08/2026Well, hello W. Hoping you'll be what Twitter and Facebook once were - a nice place to share weird esoteric stuff and say hello. I'm about to start on a project to visit every museum in London, because's a guy's got to have a hobby, so... Tuesday I'm starting with the London Transport Museum. 140
