#SASweek26
Another #SASweek finishes, and as with every year, I hope it has opened a few eyes.

#SASweek26 was about raising awareness, as well as celebration of all things SAS. The GMC survey being published, and showing many SAS and locally-employed doctors are still having some pretty terrible experiences in the workplace, should open some eyes.

It should lead to change, because all the noise of SAS week would suggest SAS experiences DO matter, otherwise all this is just tokenism. We said that about the last one too though, didn't we? It was published in 2019, and I suspect half the people using the hashtags this week haven't read it, or the new one.

I have once again heard that SAS doctors are the "backbone" and the "beating heart" of the NHS.

If we get to choose our body part of the week, I am a jaded bit. Whatever I am, it is sprained.

Train station coffee. Another very busy week ahead, and it is starting to feel cold in the mornings. I'm going to need to cheer up, or it is going to be a very long winter.

Looking a little autumnal out there, but there is still beauty even as the days grow shorter and colder. These were all taken with a Canon 10D from 2003 and a 28mm lens from the 90s. Cropped but otherwise unaltered. You don't need new gear to see the beauty of the world. #photography

Disappointing result, even if Spurs were clearly the better team today. As my brother-in-law wrote in his article for the Mail after the game: "Alas, they would struggle to hit a barn door from five yards." Gonna have to score a goal at some point, gents, or it isn't going to end well. #COYS

My kids didn't want what I had planned to cook, so I made something completely different. Chicken pesto pasta thing, with some cherry tomatoes, a little garlic and a splash of white wine, and then topped with some parmesan. 20 minutes, start to finish. I really should cook like this more often.

The Eiffel Tower is quite striking from Trocadéro. I also quite like that this was taken with probably my oldest lens, a Saitex 28mm, which was a gift from a friend I made on the bird app, Dr Ollie Burton. I always take this lens on holiday. I had it mounted on my A7 ii this week. #photography

This weekend is Y Not festival. I am not there. I am working. 15 years ago, my band played that festival. We also supported some up and coming bands. We never had any momentum. It was never going anywhere but it was awesome. I miss the noise and the people. I miss the youth and optimism of it all.

Gone a year. It has passed quickly. I've been too busy, with too much to do to really process anything. It always seems that something is more important than my own grief. Perhaps I have engineered it that way. Miss you, dude.

These images show the compromises you have to make with old gear. I don't go beyond ISO 400 with this camera, so this is shot at F/4. I therefore can't get all of him in focus. Shutter 1/100s, so he had to be still. Here is a wing flappy action shot to illustrate the point. #photography

You learn a lot about butterflies, by trying to photograph them. They have personality. Red Admirals are tarts. They pose with their wings wide open. They want to be photographed. Peacocks are shy. They need to get used to you, or they fly away. Sony A100, Minolta "beercan" lens. #photography

Happy Father's Day to anyone out there it means anything to. I am very thoughtful. I lost my dad last summer, and this is my first Father's Day without him. I hope my teenage children will emerge at some point. To me, it was only yesterday they looked like this. Be wary of time, folks. It passes.
