On youth gender-affirming care, literally every one of the 50 states currently requires parental consent for children to receive this care except for very narrow exceptions in Washington and Oregon. Meanwhile 27 states have blanket bans on gender affirming care for minors.

It's also worth noting that many of the organizations currently banning trans women are doing so because of pressure from the government. A hands-off approach from a democratic presidency would likely result in organizations making less restrictive policies than they are making now.

27 states currently have blanket bans on trans women competing in women's sports. The issue of trans people in sports polls abysmally. A framework where these decisions are made by sports organizations seems like the strongest way to defend against these blanket statewide bans....

In the same way Obama ran opposing gay marriage but appointed the justices who legalized it, I think a moderate democrat, even one who has some problematic views on trans rights, will create a far better environment for trans rights in both the short and long term than a maga republican
