Hello everyone,
this is a Tibetan snow leopard from Gerze County in Tibet speaking. You can see me here because a Chinese drone has spotted me.

Everything that triggers thermal imaging cameras, motion sensors and the like is meticulously recorded, relayed and digitally processed in accordance with its creators’ intentions.

My every breath, my prey, my struggle for survival – for my hunger is rarely satisfied.

They’re watching me, so to speak, as I’m forced onto a diet.

Due to the ‘modernising’ dismantling of the traditionally developed, rotational grazing system involving yaks (and other grazing animals) in the Tibetan highlands, they can no longer break up and renew the grass cover.

The pastures of the Tibetan plateau are thus withering away, the vegetation cover is becoming even thinner and the soil is eroding.

Wildlife therefore finds food less frequently in an environment that, the higher up one goes, offers hardly any plant growth to begin with.

The plateau’s sensitive ecosystem is thus knowingly??? thrown out of its natural balance.

Fences block the natural migration routes of wild animals, such as Tibetan antelopes and wild asses, and become deadly barriers.

In eastern Tibet, for example, the nomadic Golok people are being resettled in guarded satellite towns under the pretext of environmental protection.

Because the uninhabited grasslands are consequently becoming increasingly ecologically degraded, this is used to justify the massive expansion of surveillance technology, drones, AI cameras, etc., in order to digitally monitor and manage the ‘ecosystem that has been endangered by human activity over recent decades’.

But I still exist, the wild and vibrant snow leopard, folks!

PS They also call it: ‘Closeness without stress – more film and more data’ (our Chinese Sapiens brothers).

The Panchen Lama is Tibetan Buddhism’s second-highest spiritual leader, after the Dalai Lama. In 1995, the 14th Dalai Lama recognized 6-year-old Gedhun Choekyi Nyima as the 11th Panchen Lama. Three days later, Chinese authorities abducted him and his family. They have never been heard from since.
