Rob Fagen @robfagen.bsky.social · 27/09/2026When hearing Nick Cave’s song “Red Right Hand” does anyone else start to hear ZZ Top’s “Sharp Dressed Man” during the chorus? No? Just me? fine. 000
Rob Fagen @robfagen.bsky.social · 25/09/2026Watched some of #netflix #wonka series. Whatever you feel about the return of Wilder's voice via AI, the extent and detail of the practical sets and the effects were impressive. The first episode hit on a lot of cylinders (and missed on a few). But then it all decayed exponentially. 100
Rob Fagen @robfagen.bsky.social · 19/09/2026An opponent who should have crushed me was showing off and lost. They played “Famished Worldsire” and “ate” 19 lands, giving the creature a power of 57 on entry. Entry of FW triggered the effect in the pop up to scan 57 cards and place all lands tapped. There were only 27 cards left to scan. Boom. 000
Rob Fagen @robfagen.bsky.social · 12/09/2026So are we allowed to play Outlier or not? I ask because I like it. My understanding is it uses an LLM in a responsible way: as a machine assist with a human activity. Specifically it aids the development and operation of a software product. Is a roofer wrong to use a nailgun instead of a hammer? 010
Rob Fagen @robfagen.bsky.social · 07/09/2026Accidental double feature. Last night watched Taxi Driver and this afternoon watched Killers of the Flower Moon. Both were journeys. Didn’t remember that KotFM was Scorsese until I saw DeNiro. It was interesting to realize both featured returning veterans who couldn’t find their way back. 000

Rob Fagen @robfagen.bsky.social · 30/08/2026I really like that the enumeration of consequences goes to eight. It felt to me like a little slice of Hanukkah— eight little lights commemorating a miraculous event. I guess that makes @djrothkopf.bsky.social the shamash? 010
Rob Fagen @robfagen.bsky.social · 29/08/2026Nicely played. I’m frankly not sure how I feel about this production. The voice thing is truly disturbing. Yet using a story that so brilliantly conveys the consequences of selfish and foolish behavior as the basis for a production that breeds selfish and foolish behavior is kinda smart. 000

Rob Fagen @robfagen.bsky.social · 28/05/2026I'm really enjoying _Spider-Noir_. As much as I'm enjoying Mr. Cage's performance, I am occasionally struggling a little with seeing "Ben Reilly" instead of "Nick Cage performing well in a role". Rob Fagen @robfagen.bsky.social · 01/02/2026Random discovery while preparing dinner. Rob Fagen @robfagen.bsky.social · 31/01/2026Finished “Wonder Man” earlier today. It was just delightful. A tight eight episodes running under four hours, no filler _at_ _all_. Rob Fagen @robfagen.bsky.social · 06/12/2025Given that _Die Hard_ is a "christmas movie", by the transitive property of holiday-movie logic, then _A Christmas Story_ is an "action movie". They both involve climactic gunplay scenes, and you can directly map McClane walking on glass to Ralphie sticking his tongue to a frozen pole. 000
