Humans conduct experiments by putting mirrors in front of various creatures looking for the self-recognition that would inform us of the animal's intelligence, but then some grifters shove us into a hall of mirrors and we can't even recognise ourselves.

push puppet
A drawing of Emma as a push puppet, a wooden figure with segmented limbs atop a cylindrical base held together by the tension of a string running through her. A second drawing shows her with the base depressed and the tension released in her string, so that she has collapsed.

I've been recommended this multiple times and... It's just a video that doesn't seem particularly informed about what it's talking about? I don't know why I should care about Atlas maybe needing multiple takes to perform choreography when a troop of Unitree G1s are performing live for CNY.

Before you repost that viral photo, ask yourself if the person who posted it credited the photographer. No? Also no alt text? Maybe don't repost it. Photos don't magically happen and to erase the skill behind them for clout is a dick move.

The Amphora of Great Intelligence (AGI) #webcomic #krita #miniFantasyTheater
A comic strip in four panels:

1. A bird's-eye view of a giant amphora the size of a building with closed eyes and a closed mouth engraved on it. Using scaffolding, a community of wizards climbed up and are throwing all their books into it, to fill its content.
> Wizards: All our grimoires for the Amphora of Great Intelligence!

2. A ground level view at the bottom of the giant amphora. This time, the wizards bring tree trunks, cut down nearby trees, and throw them into a large fire to boil the giant amphora.
> Wizards: All our forests for the Amphora of Great Intelligence!

3. A gathering of all the wizards below the imposing amphora which has now opened its glowing eyes and mouth slightly. The crowd of wizards at its feet applauds:
> Wizards: Amphora of Great Intelligence, our world is dying, share your knowledge with us!

4. Same shot, as the amphora responds with joyful and amused eyes. The wizards are confused by the answer...
> Artificial Intelligence: According to geologists, you should eat at least one small rock per day.
> Wizards: ... ... ...

Can an AI chatbot of Dr Karl change climate sceptics’ minds? He’s willing to give it a try
The famous science communicator is planning to release a chatbot designed to answer questions on the climate crisis. Can it work?

Jackson Ryan
Sun 10 Aug 2025 17.00 CEST
There’s arguably no face, voice or collection of exuberant, patterned shirts more recognisable than those belonging to Dr Karl Kruszelnicki.

The bespectacled boffin has been answering curly listener questions about science, with characteristic excitement and passion, for more than 40 years. Despite a seemingly tireless work ethic, Kruszelnicki, now 77 years old, can’t be everywhere all at once.

Those questions now come in waves, across social media platforms at all hours of the day. “Sometimes I get 300 requests a day on Twitter to answer an involved question about climate change,” Kruszelnicki says.

Generally we think of alt-text as the domain of those with accessibility needs. However alt-text is useful for many reasons, which benefit your viewers, as well as you, the creator!
An infographic. There are six panels.

1. "Slow internet. Alt text is shown in place of unloaded images." a drawing shows a phone with poor signal, and alt text is visible where the image should have loaded.

2. "Findabillity. Alt text helps to search content." A drawing shows someone searching 'dog with banana' and a post is shown underneath without the words 'dog' or 'banana'. It is implied to be part of the alt text.

3. "Screen readers. Alt is read out to people using text-to-speech software". There is a drawing of the output a screen-reader would show when viewing an image with alt text on bluesky.

4. "Translation. Alt text can be translated". A drawing shows a post being translated. The alt text is also translated into german.

5. "Readability. Text in images can be made legible" There is a drawing of some truly awful handwriting inside a speech bubble. The alt text clarifies what the text is supposed to say.

6. "Disambiguation. Description helps clarify intent." There is a drawing of a post with a picture of a creature. This is styled after the famous optical illusion of a rabbit and a duck. The alt text clarifies that the animal is a rabbit. It definitely looks more like a duck.

Back in 2021, PMG reported on the unseen games industry crunch taking place at outsourcing studios in SE Asia. Since then, the companies we looked at have continued to work on some of the biggest games in the world, without any push to improve the conditions of the artists doing that work. (1/7)

A lot of memes are based on illustrations and comics that an artist made, but people remove all mention of the artist to make it seem as if the image sprang out of the ether, that it belongs to everyone. Especially in this day and age, it's important to assert when art is made by human hands.

A lot happened to me in 2024. While some of it was difficult, overall things have turned out for the better. And I got to draw a lot of interesting things! Here are some art highlights of the year.
A collage of nine squares with an illustration or closeup of one in each. There’s a colourful ancient reef scene, a Jurassic forest with small mammals, bison in winter, a sea scorpion looking up at an Ordovician sunset, a portrait of a pet cat, mother sabertooth being mobbed by skylarks, ancient Greek vase-style drawing of a woman and Cretan dwarf deer, a scorpion and a Macrauchenia walking on yellow Pampa grass.

I made this sketch for an idea I had a long time ago exploring the idea of the famous myth that sharks "smell a drop of blood in 2 million liters of water" and become uncontrollably frenzy. This scene depicts a distant event in the past history of my shark civilization.🦈✨
A humanoid shark that resembles a great white shark in antique clothes appears among the plants on a beach offering a healing potion to an unknown human with wounds on her arm. The shark is saying that it smelled her wounds and thought it would bring a healing potion.

Just something to convey a more benevolent idea to the famous myth about sharks "being able to smell a drop of blood in 2 million liters of water" and the myth that they go into an uncontrolled frenzy when they smell blood.

I thought that the dissonance was strong with the 'gamers' who are complaining about Sweet Baby Inc. brigading indie titles that they'd never heard of or cared about, but apparently the whole movement was started by someone with... concerns over games they'd never played. What even is 'gaming'?
