We interrupt our steady stream of Kickstarter promotion to post something Pre-apocalyptic. I wrote this homage to Pastor Neimoller on 3/15/25 (5 years since Covid lockdown.]. Our slide on the slippery slope had begun. Added the last tercet yesterday. Sad & angry. How many can we check off?

You folks are classy. As an author running my 1st Kickstarter for an October launch, I stressed hearing of the strike. As a teacher, I absolutely support you, & did. When I saw you weren't asking for a boycott, I thought, 'It's because they care about the company.' Glad you won. My KS is winning too

I NEED ADVICE: Do today’s readers want pictures of characters when being introduced to a book? A critique from someone 55+ suggested they don’t. I feel like the 3 pictures of Lizzie at the top set a tone and focus for the trilogy, but perhaps the other pictures might distract? What do you think?

Cool. I'm always looking for good apocalyptic LGBTQIAS stories. I have written what I call an apocaloptimistic trilogy about Lizzie, an teen who has lived a tough life when the end of the world happens. My partner describes it as, "Coming of Age and Coming Out in the Apocalypse." ;-)

So, quantities of things where there are 11 of them. For example: These calligraphic separators [I created them! ;-) I'm proud of them!] occur 13 times, so if there were exactly 11 that would count.

Daily clues so far... 1st Clue: Get the picture? 2nd Clue: You spin me right round, baby right round... 3rd Clue: How many ________s are there? Remember to think outside the box. [What? There's a box?] This one goes to 11. When you've found them all, e-mail me at robertlslater1@gmail.com.

Try it. You'll like it. YA Apocaloptimistic fiction. Book II-III are a little dystopian, but all three main characters have satisfying (surviving and thriving mostly) ends. Ride shotgun with Lizzie on the this realistic teen-age apocalyptic road trip.

000

Robert L. "Rob" Slater @robertlslater.bsky.social · 14/11/2025

I get it. My response in 2011 was to start a realistic apocalypse with an at-risk young woman protagonist set in a post-apocaloptimistic bat-virus pandemic universe set in fall 2019. It gets worse from there for me, but the characters get reasonably happy endings.
