The girls, brought on to investigate a string of murders in the town of Stockard, are about to perform an autopsy. #WIPSnips #WriteSky #WritingCommunity From Punga and the Silver Siren book 3, "A Murder of Beasts"
From what Reggie could see, Alaric’s body had been very well cared for. He looked just as pretty in death as he’d been in life, with his sandy-blond hair oiled and slicked back, even though his eyes and lips were stitched shut. His cheeks had sunken and his skin had developed a waxy, blue-gray appearance, but the cold seemed to have successfully held back full decomposition. More than a week after his death, the cadaver didn’t seem to have swelled very much, if at all. Then again, the only part of him currently visible was his head.
“Be careful with him,” Daniel said, his voice echoing in the small room.
“I promise he won’t be hurt,” Reggie snickered. She then nodded at Emiri, who grabbed the corner of the sheet covering the corpse and yanked it away.
“Well isn’t that something,” said Brian. Three feet to his left, on the other side of the door, his deputy let out a whimper.
Emiri looked like she’d just sucked a lemon, while Reggie clucked her tongue. “At least they didn’t touch his face, huh?”
“Hrm.”

Also, seeing modern childhood through the eyes of someone who knows nothing about it helps reveal just how deeply fucked up it is to be a kid right now. Fucking hell.

Holy hell, this version of Carrie is gonna wreck me. The story hits so much harder when the characters look and act like teenagers. Summer Howell is so perfect in this role. It's going to break my heart.

BTW, it's really hard to take the king seriously when the guy looks and sounds exactly like Jack Horner.

I swear they accidentally hired the cast of Cirque du Soleil and decided, "We need to make use out of them SOMEHOW." And voila, much acrobatic tree descending.

After seeing @suleikhasnyder.bsky.social discuss In the Name of the King last night, I decided to give it a try. THC seltzer's firmly in place. This is so awesomely bad. I especially love that the huge battle sequence at the one-hour mark can't begin until... 5 ninjas descend from the trees?

And also, I have, like, zero charisma. There's only so far a sternly raised eyebrow could get you on a debate stage.

I'm a patient person generally, but I have zero patience for modern discourse. In that same regard, it'd be easy for anyone to find my triggers and make me lose my temper. I'd most CERTAINLY say things that would destroy this fictional career I don't have. And I wouldn't be sorry.

Every month, a rep from the CT DNC writes to me asking me to run for office, any office. "You could make a difference!" they say. Pretty sure these go out to a portion of registered Dems, but still, the thought of me in office is funny. I'd be a horrendous politician. I wouldn't last a full term.

I've been feeling down lately, for obvious reasons. But then I spoke with an artist who saw and translated my vision. Who is kind and communicative. And who's just plain awesome. So now I'm just a tad bit happier.

Just gotta remind myself, as a Patriots fan, that every loss - especially embarrassing ones - will make Robert Kraft mad/sad. And the world is a better place when men like him are in a dissatisfied state.

In fairness, a lot of the times I'll end up hearing a song and go, "Oh, I haven't listened to this in a while. Let's listen to that whole album!"

OMG Bree, you'd HATE listening to music with me. I shuffle my collection (burned CDs mind you) all the time. 22,319 songs, every genre imaginable, all completely randomized. It's even irritating for Jess that my playlists are album-based, not song based. Sometimes, I just like to be surprised. 🤣

This whole thing creeps me out. By law, victims of trafficking aren't held responsible for the acts they're forced to partake in. Which makes the fact this was brought up at all in those hearings is just... fucking weird.

I was stabbed right in the gut when I realized that like 60% of the voice cast for that show are dead, and none of them were young when they passed. 34 years is a long time, innit?

Figured I'd watch that Wick-adjacent Ballerina movie. It's only been out there for like a year or more. And right off the bat... Did a whole kill squad just scuba to their destination while carrying crossbows with bolts already nocked? Yes, indeed, they did.

I'm not sure which is which. I actually really loved the one where Sarah hallucinates blowing out the candles with her daughter. She's totally gonna be monster food in that version, but at least she found a place of peace. Considering the trauma of the accident haunted her the whole film.

Totally. I still consider Dawn of the Dead to be my favorite movie of all time, The Thing second. With The Descent being a close third, ironically enough.

Yes. The whole cast was great, and the way they shot Nikki after her possession was perfect. It's weird, Sara. It's like BECAUSE they did such a great job that I didn't enjoy the experience. Does that make sense? Weirdly, if somehow the ending had been positive, I prolly wouldn't feel this way.

Okay. Obsession. Really well written and made. The cast was great. The problem is, I didn't actually LIKE it. The experience wasn't enjoyable. I felt so, so sorry for the poor girl, and loathed the male lead, the whole time. It was devastating. I know that's the point. But still. 1-time watch.
