I'm so used to being close to Greylag Geese that it's a surprise that they are much more 'wild' (for want of a better word) on my visits to #Hungary. I don't have many photos of them but here's one, to get them on the list for #BirdsSeenIn2026 and hopefully get the Hungary list over the 100 mark.

When I'm in one of the drinking pool hides in #Hungary I tend to take shots of any bird that comes down even 'common' or less 'exciting' ones, like this young Magpie. So I was very surprised that in the 6 years of the 'birds seen in' challenge #BirdsSeenIn2026 that the species has never been posted.

Not so many wader species around Tiszalpaar #Hungary in June as on my April visits but I did see one Spotted Redshank in its breeding finery. Black-crowned Night Herons were more in evidence though. Both are new for #BirdsSeenIn2026

Early morning on the 'big lake' at Tiszalpaar in Kiskunsag NP in #Hungary - a group of Great Cormorants. Soon joined by herons, egrets and even a couple of Black Storks in a feeding procession around the lake. The Cormorants and Great White Egret are new for #BirdsSeenIn2026 so those are the photos.
