I'd also love to flag this on here to some senior government officials... But seems like they are still on X amplifying the exact kind of attitudes that have created this hostile environment for immigration 😤 Glad to see @timfarron.bsky.social my local MP is on here & would appreciate your help

Thanks Laura and I'm sorry you also have to go through this mess! 50p?!? That's scandalous! Especially when it costs more than that just to have the pleasure of emailing them! 🤬🙄 I really hope your renewal is successful!

We'll apply again, but this process is expensive with a lot of money not returned. For many, I doubt there will be the finances, encouragement or time to reapply or appeal This process is cruel & the response is insulting. I feel sorry for anyone put through it to simply be with their family

Rob Davis @robdavis1104.bsky.social · 05/06/2026
But we knew all this obviously, it's our own stupid fault and it was dumb of us to think we could live in the UK Especially with the "strong public interest" in effective immigration control I don't even know where to begin on that one... 🤬

Why were we rejected? The salary threshold (because poor people shouldn't fall in love with foreigners) is £29,000 I make more than that in my position BUT you have to have been in that job for 6 months to qualify. I started in January & it's now June, so we were rejected for the sake of 1 month

Rob Davis @robdavis1104.bsky.social · 05/06/2026
It's okay, you don't need to be together as a family, there's WhatsApp & Zoom for that now 🤬 How did we get to be so cold as a country? How can we send something like that to people and families in need, most in far more dangerous and turbulent situations than my wife and I

My wife 🇺🇸 & I 🇬🇧 applied for a spousal visa to the UK Our application was rejected (I'll get on to that) but first, read this statement from the rejection letter Now imagine they are telling this to families who might have been apart for months, in extremely difficult circumstances, it's shameful

Out today, a companion article for my autoOcc R package: Estimating species occupancy across multiple sampling seasons with autologistic occupancy models via the autoOcc R package. #rstats 🧪 besjournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/...
Ecologists have limited options when modelling species distributions through time, especially when data are limited. The autoOcc R package provides a solution to this, making it simple to fit autologistic occupancy models, compare them, and make model predictions.

During my BSc at NTU, I participated in these surveys, collecting hedgehog capture history data in 2010 (and maybe 2009 or 2011, who knows it's that long ago! 🧓🏼). So it's pretty cool to go from collecting these data to assisting with the analyses all these years later! 😊

Our results showed that density declined over time & was spatially structured. As badger presence changed during the study, with a new badger sett appearing halfway through the study, we observed a density-weighted shift away from this badger sett, providing evidence for the landscape of fear.
