Aha sorry I missed this skeet in the thread

You didn’t say that you’re an attorney, but ok.

100

Rob Chappell @robchappell365.bsky.social · 08/10/2026

so you're not a lawyer, and therefore nothing you've said has any authority or relevance. Except maybe that I'm a stupid asshole, that may very well be true. Jury's still out

Rob Chappell @robchappell365.bsky.social · 08/10/2026

Atlanta is 10th in attendance and Milwaukee (the smallest city) is 11th. Averaging nearly 35,000 isn’t “shit crowds” I don’t think

110

Rob Chappell @robchappell365.bsky.social · 08/10/2026

Are you a lawyer with relevant experience? If so dm me and I’ll quote you. If not, shh

Rob Chappell @robchappell365.bsky.social · 08/10/2026

Definitely hold up in court, just that it’s defensible in his opinion. He also acknowledged there’s no precedent. Lawyers disagree all the time. If they didn’t, we wouldn’t have trials. I don’t just take anybody’s word for it, is the thing. Haas isn’t automatically right.

100

Rob Chappell @robchappell365.bsky.social · 08/10/2026

Oh you want to be CLEAR with me! Well then, you must be right I didn’t ask them about the law or the ordinance. Of course they’re going to say it’s illegal. Just like of course haas is going to say it’s legal. Which I also included in the story. FWIW he didn’t say it would

100

Rob Chappell @robchappell365.bsky.social · 08/10/2026

City contracts, sure. Not sure they have authority to terminate appointments for which they’re only given confirmation authority. In this case it’s interim, so maybe they do. Haas said they do just because it’s “logical,” not because of any state statute or municipal ordinance.

Rob Chappell @robchappell365.bsky.social · 08/10/2026

If they were trying to repeal the OIM ordinance, that might make sense. They’re not, though. They’re just trying to fire the current occupant of the job, which doesn’t seem legal by the letter of the ordinance.

Rob Chappell @robchappell365.bsky.social · 07/10/2026

Have fun! I’m sorry for what’s about to happen

000

Rob Chappell @robchappell365.bsky.social · 07/10/2026

Yeah the Menace got the USL Championship franchise yeeeears ago and just haven’t been able to get the stadium built. If MLS can just swoop in and build one and crowd out one of the more beloved clubs that would suck

Young people today don’t even know about the Mr T Ate My Balls Home Page

Rob Chappell @robchappell365.bsky.social · 07/10/2026

Nooooooo MLS is terrible and next pro is an awful league There’s already a USL2 team there. One of the best in the nation. Been there 32 years. Just needs to build a stadium to turn professional.

Honestly the more I watch it the more I think it really looked like it had the distance. Even if the datasets otherwise. Still probably hooks foul though

Very stupid pet peeve: News outlets referring to someone who stops to help as a “Good Samaritan.” That’s not the point of the story!! Also singing Amazing Grace in times of mourning. Not a sad song! Yes I’m fucking pedantic about churchy things

To be fair Schmidt said he had texts from Smith’s staff, not from Smith. He’s still an absolute clown.

Oh lord Okay (sigh) When you dismiss their race (its race, not color) you dismiss their identity and their experience. It’s an incredibly racist thing to do. It even has a name: colorblind racism. It’s not only dismissive, it assumes racism doesn’t exist if we just ignore it. Some reading:
